some guy just made me play a 1 hr 40 min game......so bm



it devolved into mass raven v mass queen. I would just place a bunch of turrets, he would transfuse, i would hunter/seeker, and slowly killed them off 1 by 1. Eventually I got it in my head to start making marines, and that kindve sped up things a bit.

idk what changed but all of a sudden my comp cant handle SC2.
if too many units get on the map it will lag uncontrollably.
its really tilting cuz i literally cant play now. and idk what changed.
wtf.

It wasnt, i killed off all his tier 3 at like 35 mins...for the next 40 mins he just sat there making queens out of 7 macro hatches, he peaked at 58 queens lol, but by then i have 30+ ravens, and PFs all over the place, plus 10 or so orbitals to continually call down mules to repair, plus his queens have bad mobility, so once he got off of creep i just slowly killed all of them off.

When he finally went afk at the 1hr 25 min mark our resources lost tab was:

Him: 82k
Me: 52k

At the end of the game:

Him: 105k
Me: 59k

Im not entirely sure how i lost 7k worth of stuff while he wasnt playing

we're looking at two five person groups where there are eight weeks and each person plays each other person four times for the reg. season

we like drawing it out so each person gets to play as much SC as possible

i remember you suggested top 2 from each div. for playoffs, right?

was watching a broodwar game in proleague

flash does a 2base timing that works perfectly against protoss, and to ensure he doesnt get counter-reaver-drop harassed he plants a bunch of turrets by his base in the flight path of the protoss dropship. flash was 11 oclock and protoss was 1 oclock, so the turrets were on the east side outside flash's main.

anyways, it occured to me that a lot of sc2 maps have air-only areas around bases, so maneuvers like this are less common. you see turrets blocking off in the main, but not so much outside the main (which is what flash did)

is there a difference between broodwar maps and sc2 maps with respect to cliffs/air-only areas around mains?

Rolled a TvT this morning to warm up for a nice Saturday of working, saw my opponent didn't take his second base after like 5 minutes so I was like "o snap" and geared up for an all-in which never really came (he attacked with some troops and a few siege tanks but I held it off easily, it didn't help that he sieged up at the bottom of the ramp...and then had no high ground vision). So I scan and see he's going mech, so I build a bunch of marauders to keep my marines from getting crushed by siege tanks, completely forgetting about the whole "siege tanks get bonus v armored" thing (given that, how do you effectively fight mech with bio?). Fortunately I have way more **** than him, and he has his siege tanks spread way out across the middle of the map so I flank around them and hit him from the side, wipe out his army pretty easily.

#4 in my silver division!

Broodwar maps are very different to current sc2 maps. For starters I think every map in the current BW map pool is a 4 player map with no spawn restrictions, whereas there isn't a single one of them in most sc2 tournament pools. Empty space is also a big difference as you're right that there is virtually none in any of the BW maps but it's very common in sc2.

As time goes on we'll probably see a fair amount of evolution in map design in sc2. It doesn't necessarily mean it will go in the same direction as BW but I'd be surprised if we see too many more fixed spawn 4 player maps in the mid to long term (unless map design remains largely controlled by blizzard, in which case who knows what will happen).
