Well, that's how the direction of the game is headed anyways. Terran usually can't make any aggressive moves off a 1 rax FE until 9:30 anyways (2 medivac timing) and any aggressive protoss move has already been figured out for the most part, leading to the 1 gate FE. I greatly dislike the fact that terran has a plethora of builds to choose from, some hard to scout if executed well, while protoss often ends up on the back foot or having to risk a lot of money/supply in scouting that may end up unsuccesful/inconclusive, while the limitations on protoss end up with them on the defensive if the terran throws a curveball build.

Just played a ZvT where villain tried to 3 rax me AI, but I was already rushing zergling speed and I scouted him pulling his SCVs so I got some lings out and held pretty easily. After that I sent lings to his natural and didn't let him take it; however, he was walled off, so I figured it was time for MY FIRST EVER BANELING BUST.

Build the baneling nest, morph 8 banelings, send my lings and banelings up the ramp to his wall with a-move ANDDDDDDD

the blings are blocked from the wall by my zerglings trying to attack it, and start dying (shot by marines behind the wall) w/o doing any damage.

Attempt #2: send the banelings in alone and a-move them to the wall. They don't detonate. I was pretty sure I had enabled building explosion, but maybe I did it wrong, because they were just sitting there like ****ing tards and maybe doing damage if I was lucky enough for them to explode next to the wall. No buildings die.

I gave up on banelings after that.

I'm really good at playing down to the level of my opponents too. There was basically a 0% chance of him winning the game once I was denying his nat, but it still took me 25 minutes to win, cause I was just sitting back having a lemonade instead of really going for the throat. Plus that wall had me stymied. Eventually I was like "oh, I can build air units" and made like 20 mutas and that finally got him to quit.

idk why but i cant win vs protoss. 44.88% winrate zvp whihc is pretty terrible.
the 3 games i lost today:
FFE, i accidently overdrone and lose. cant get enough raoches out vs an 8gate allin with mostly stalkers
FFE, i scout like 12 rax, and cant hold off a million zealots. was microing my roaches heart out but just too many zealots.
FFE, basically same as game 1, cept didnt overdrone as much, just couldnt hold the lotsa gateway allin
last game, the guy doesnt FFE, he 4gates but doesnt attack, i make a buncha spines and lings off 2 bases. all of a sudden 3 skill rays are at my base and kill my spawning pool and i cant hold. sent all my drones out, made 2 bases accross the map (antiga), and morph like 15 banes trying to base trade. he has like 4 sentrys at his main and i cant break it. geeg

its kinda annoying, in like gold and plat, FFE meant i won cuz stephanos roach max worked so well so often, but recently theyre attacking beofre i can get comfortable and start to roach max. sigh, need to find the right timing and practice more

I confirmed practicing vs the AI that I did not have building targeting on my banelings, so that explains some of the fail.

How do I avoid the first problem I had, though, where my lings were attacking the entire wall and banelings couldn't get through to detonate?

select lings and have them run away for a sec, then once the wall goes boom then run them in.
or send the banes first and the lings second but not far behind

advanced micro technique below, try at your own risk:

select the lings in the way of the banelings

move them out of the way of the banelings

then move the banelings into the void now created by moving the lings

using the "attack" command, tell the banelings to attack what you want them to blow up

only gm's can pull that off, c'mon now karak.

Already this gets complicated. Making precise boxes in the heat of battle is hard, what if I get some banelings in that box too?

And then I move them out of the way, but the rest of my lings are still on a-move and fill the void created at the wall. WHAT THEN?!?!?!

separate hotkeys for lings and blings

if you hold control and click on a ling (or double click a ling but this is harder with stupid tiny lings) it will select all of the lings!

I just right click banelings on things that I don't want to be there. When it's not there anymore they stop blowing it up.

seeing HoTS battle reports on youtube today made me want to start playing sc2 again

turns out my last game I played was 34 weeks ago and I was defeated by Gospy. So I blame gospy for forcing me to retire and I will make it a point to come back and beat him
