It's kind of equivalent in poker imo, play 200 hands, make a profit, don't want to play anymore so you don't end up stuck.
+1

Haven't played once 1v1 since I hit diamond a few weeks ago. Once I get over the hump of actually sitting down and playing then I can easily put in multihour sessions. Just like poker to be honest.

Aw yea just extended my game winning streak to 13.

I could not get a 3rd expo up at all. So I decided to try and end it.

It's going to be a sad day once I lose.

It seems as a random platinum player I need to know every map advantages/disadvantages, with the best openings and the fastest counters, for every race against every race, while scouting and understand what I'm seeing.

I look forward to it if/when I get punted out of platinum, I'll work my way back later.

so i watched all of artosis's videos on youtube of the qualifiers and watching nada play was absurd. he's constantly clicking keys left and right. what is he doing? with all of those clicks?

It's a mentality thing, helps to keep him alert. When I play Team Fortress 2 well I usually have been strafing back and forth frantically while on my way to the battle or over the same spot I'm guarding, keeping in the aggro monkey reflexes as sharp as possible.

I've also heard something along the lines of "when you get into the heat of the game you get adrenaline going which makes your hands cold and your response times slow, so spamming buttons at the start keeps my hands warm for later."

I'm going with the mentality answer.

Also, this seems like the best place to ask this: Are your points locked to you, or your division?

Ex) If I get to 250pts before I move up/down in leagues, when I get moved to diamond/gold, will I have 250pts or 0?

neither. when you get promoted they take away a percentage of your points.

Going for FFA Destroyer Achievement, (win a FFA with each of the 4 races), because I'm an achievement whore. It seems the best tactic is to make a bajillion thors and a handful of vikings, then steam-roll everyone. Which seems pretty boring when it's time to go for 800 wins, PLUS I don't know what I'm going to do for the other 2 races against a likely pure thor. Probably a lot of infestors, void rays, and cannons. Yich.

The #1 guy in my 4v4 diamond division has 3400 wins, 4000 losses.

Some of his games are really weird though with players making nothing, etc... dunno how he did it but he managed to whore icons like crazy.

I hear some people will join team games, then drop out. Their victory is tied to the outcome of the game, but their time is not. Place the burden on the teammates, who are using the extra resources he is feeding them. Find a skilled partner who goes along with it, and/or random games and leave them hanging, and you have thousands of games.

It's very nice that achievements don't revolve around % wins. You can get the same achievement with W/L of 3000-0 in diamond as you would going 3000-10000 in bronze.

i always use 4 for nexus/cc/hatch because for nexus, index figer 4 middle finger E is really fast, for cc index 4 ring ringer or middle finger S is fast, hatch 4 ring finger s middle finger d is fast

you guys seriously pinky finger 1 before building drones? thats awkward!

Feeding minerals early is actually quite effective if your teammates know how to abuse them well. In fact I'd probably venture to say that an arranged 3s team that has 1 player drop purposely every game would probably be less variance and more +EV than playing standard.

ehhh, i guess husky is good because that's how a lot of new players learn the game but that's about it. it seems like people find out about husky/hd and then when they become decent they find out about day9 and go from there.

husky has a ton of energy and likes to ramble on and just seems like he'd be an incredible guy to be around. hes not as knowledgeable in terms of theorycrafting and the pro scene as someone like day9, but he can make the games fun.

hd is pretty boring though.

husky is just exciting. he gets so into the moment, says hilarious stuff and gets you excited for what is going on.

i mean a medivac barely getting away can be important, but it's exciting as hell with husky screaming "he might get that MEDIVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCC NO!!!!!!"

or "PSI STORM PSI STORM PSI STOOOOOOOOOOOOOORM"

he's like the gus johnson of starcraft 2
