JFC, I spend literally no time on TL. I don't really care for technical SC2, I just like to 4 gate/ battle craft. You guys know me.

I lost the vast majority of my Z/P games tonight. Which is unfortunate because I rolled Z/P every single game until I tilt-switched back to Terran to break up the losing (and almost was forced into a tie against a T who, since the servers are going down for maintenance as we speak, lifted all his buildings in my last game hoping he could keep from dying until the servers went down; I barely cranked out some vikings and found them in time, ****ing douche).

Stuff that happened:
- got speedling rushed ZvZ, turns out that trying to keep droning while holding off an attack isn't the best idea
- played an awful T who hit me with a lot of banshee harassment, turns out it's hard to win when you lose about 10 hatcheries and have to rebuild them constantly...I was so close to brood lords too
- ZvP, opponent pylon blocked the ramp to my nat and then put up cannons behind it, I didn't lose anything to it but it delayed my nat long enough that I couldn't do anything when he eventually started warping in a ton of stalkers off a 2 base economy
- PvT, just didn't have enough stuff. I never have enough stuff playing P, warp cycles just don't click with my brain for some reason. I'm seriously going to stop researching warpgate so I can try to keep constant production out of gateways until I learn to not be so ****ing terrible at Protoss
- ZvZ, hit with an early zergling rush, my nat is juuuuust about to finish but I decide to cancel cause I think he's gonna take it out (he took out my 2 lings at the watchtower so I have exactly 1 queen to defend, I'm pretty sure my nat goes down if I leave it). I put up a couple spines in my base, he attacks, gets one spine and I hold, but again my nat is delayed, I try to catch up but then he comes at my third with like 12 mutalisks when my whole army is roaches and I just snapleave
- ZvP, hold off some early zealot rushes (had to pull drones like 3 diff times) but easily outmacro my opponent after that. He was being a little bitch though, I take out his main and nat and he still tries to crank out void rays/carriers/mothership from a SEKRET BASE, I go mass hydra and repel him pretty easily

I guess this means my MMR is back to that mid silver range where all anybody knows how to do is cheese badly (maybe even high silver, one of the guys above was gold)

regarding warpgate- if you aren't in the habit of Queing units- which you shouldn't be- then its pretty hard to not do a warp in. Have a camera hotkey for your terran/zerg rally point- then use this for the warp in pylon. Toss unit production macro is kinda hard to be fair- well harder than terran and zerg- especially with chrono it takes much time off hteir mostly uneeded micro apm.

Yeah Protoss APM/macro is significantly easier than both zerg/terran macro. Might feel like protoss doesn't have a lot of stuff because you aren't using FF and/or micro'ing your units well? Gateway units are really bad without appropriate micro compared to T/Z and you have to be more careful with them because they cost way more.

I think a good rule of thumb is always defend / run away until you are ready to put the game on the line. You can't trade down like zerg or terran might, if you ever lose a significant army game is over (you lose).

How early did he do this?

You need to drone scout relatively early in ZvP (mostly to find out whether he's 1basing or 2basing) as well as to find out if he's going for a FFE but not bulding a nexus (aka he's cannon rushing you somewhere). It takes experience to get the intuition behind the timings right, but pylon blocking your ramp takes 300 minerals min and it has to be done pretty early (assuming you're going for a normal 15p/16h build), so you can normally show up at his base and realize he's doing something out of the ordinary. If he has an incredibly early forge, that's usually a clue that he's aiming to put cannons somewhere.

Also, if this is something that happens to you a lot, you can patrol a drone at the base of your ramp. This was a lot more common back when you could wall off with only two pylons.

What map are you playing on that doesn't have that neutral supply depot at the bottom? Shakuras? Veto that ****.

Goofy just keep pushing "w" over and over whenever you aren't doing anything else and you will know exactly when you can warp in.

Anyone having problems with patching? Mine looked like it got stuck at 1.16 GB so I closed it out and tried to restart and now it can't connect to the patch servers.

Maybe it wasn't frozen and just not moving? The download speed wasn't changing either, which led me to believe it was frozen. It was stuck at 835kb/s for a good 5 minutes.

I don't think goofy's in GSL yet.

It's def because I miss warp cycles and I get into big supply deficits.

Haha, wp. This was on Ohana fwiw. I was doing 14p/15h like always, I forget when the pylons came down but obv it was before 15.

My Zerg game is taking baby steps - last night was the first time I remembered to try to get decent overlord spread for scouting (although I'm still clueless about getting into my opponent's base to see what's going on...changelings? get the overseer speed upgrade and just suicide one over his main every now and then?)

I think you're supposed to just sacrifice an overlord around minute 7 or 8 or something and just fly it in and see what you see. Also want one by the natural in sight of the gasses usually.

Obv once you have a lair you can make an overseer and just drop a changeling and fly one way with the overseer and walk the other way with the changeling and see everything.

btw, last night I was studying that 7pool replay you posted. May try to work that into my game when I get tilted and roll a ZvZ.

all of the maps on the ladder (NA at least) are without neutral supply depots.....i wouldnt have been able to make it to diamond otherwise!

Unfortunately, jumping to Silver has not kept me from being really, really, really, really, really terrible at Protoss.

My last game, I had 58 supply (24 probes) off 1 base at 10:00; I built 3 gates because I find myself dying early a lot as Toss, but then once I had 3 gates I never had enough money to expand. Fortunately my opponent was absolutely terrible, and somehow I won, but I had a pretty meh day on the whole, went 2-4.

- won a TvZ on Ohana where I held off a 6pool by walling off early enough
- won that last PvT
- lost a PvP to cannon rush
- lost a couple ZvTs, first one because my macro was shoddy and I didn't react well to an early hellion rush, second one I should have won but I'm really bad at putting on the finishing kill so I just let my opponent continuously rebuild his army even after I beat him in battles and eventually his composition of thors/siege tanks/marines/marauder/medivacs/vikings was too much for me to deal with. Any composition that does well against roaches is something I fail miserably against, I still have never built banelings, I guess against Terrans with bad micro that's a good fallback I should try...hydras also probably would have been a good play, having to balance corruptors/brood lords left my air units too exposed to his vikings/marines (and once he got Thors it was LOL air units)
