Just won my first civ V game ^^

If you end up getting Civ, I can give you a quick tutorial to help you figure out what you're doing. I was really confused when I started but I had my friend on Skype to help explain how to play -- easy once you learn the interface and general mechanics. I can see myself investing more time on this game than D3. Not sure if that's a brag for civ or beat for D3.

No one plays d3 anymore, so probably the latter.

I passed on it. I am not really a fan of turn based games.

But I'd possibly still watch you stream out of boredom.

The only reason I play Rome: TW is to create custom battles with ridiculous armies and watch them fight lol. It's a surprising amount of fun.

EU3 is a lot of fun too. I've only played like 10 hours and still have no idea what I'm doing, but it's fun. I guess if you wanted a more SC2-like game experience, you could set the speed to max all the time, but I don't even know if it's possible to play well doing that. If no mechanical skill required isn't your cup of tea, then you probably won't like it. It's as much about pure strategy as SC2 is about pure mechanics.

Edit: I'll add that the Civ series is one of only two turn-based games I can tolerate (Fire Emblem being the other). It (and the "grand strategy" genre in particular) really burns a ton of time. It's really the only genre where I will start playing, then turn to look at my clock and it's 4 hours later or something.

Gospy: EU3! If you can handle its complexity, it's so so so so so much fun. Check out the thread here, Daer walks us through the early part of a game in this post.

Playing max speed all the time is an awful idea, you'll just lose because the AI isn't making decisions as slowly as you are during wartime. It's definitely not an RTS in the SC2 style but Gospy did say he likes Total War iirc so that would seem to indicate he can handle non-SC2-like strategy games.

Never played TW, but I'm open to trying other rts for sure. As long as it's not pure turn by turn.

For the record my play is like 95% sc2, 4% wc3, 1% aoe 2.

oh man, i just trolled the **** outta this guy on the ladder. We got into a big debate on whether or not Mexico was considered 'America'. I proxy marauder rushed (TvT), and i could tell by the rage building up inside of him, that if i kept needling him, he'd keep typing. Sure enough, I show up in his base and he's got like...1 marine and half a factory, lolz.
