I would pretty much just tap/cycle your production all game long, it's the most important thing. When I know I have to go micro or do something time intensive I will intentionally queue up some stuff. I think it's over emphasized how bad it is, you shouldn't do it a ton but it's useful if you know you're going to be busy.

There's no question that at every level except high GM there are brutal down swings in SC2.

This, though the big picture about cycling through your buildings is that you're building muscle memory and separating your hand movements from your eye movements. Your eyes should be focused on checking supply and minimap (information), while your hands should be building units (macro). For example, when you scout with your SCV at the start, you can hotkey your CC to 1 and continue to control your SCV in the enemy's base while simultaneously keeping up SCV production by just tapping 1-S and never having to actually look at your base.

i think if one wants to learn terran, he should learn with all his production buildings on one hotkey, using tab to cycle through production and only using specific hotkeys when certain units are needed en masse (ex: vikings out of reactored starports for a quick BL transition)

Yeah I play like this. All rax fact and ports on 1 key. The only thing that sucks is when you try to add your new structures to hotkeys and shift add your scv instead. Takes forever to fix and ****s up your macro.

It shouldn't take that long to fix. Just hit your hotkey, shift-click the scv, ctrl-click the hotkey and then do what you meant to do in the first place.

i hate when my ****ing hotkeys break in the middle of a game

accidentally bind something onto the hatch hotkeys and it's such a bitch to go fix... if you even notice in time before you are dead

or when you build an expo, hotkey it onto the hatch hotkey and then later have to cancel it and now a ****ing drone is blocking all production on your hotkey

or losing all the larva when a hatch is poofed

I do a backup hatch hotkey so it's a bit easier to fix (I do the exact same thing).

Soo I just learned that 1 rax FE loses badly to a 1base rushed siege tank. That's annoying.

You must absolutely work up to at least 3 rax and then towards quick stim to be safe doing 1 rax FE in TvT (1 rax FE into tech is a TvZ build, but I still consider it waaay too greedy given roach attack popularity nowadays). Otherwise you lose to all sorts of timings or even just against cloaked banshee if well micro'd (don't worry about that at your level though).

the fact that lots of awful maps and positions are still in the map pool has to be skewing zvt results on ladder, making balance difficult, yes. i do believe it's possible zerg has an advantage in tournaments right now, but on ladder it's sort of feast or famine depending on maps. with the absence of neutral supply depots, existence of gold minerals and continued use of close spawn, it's going to keep the #s relatively even.

Just played a drunk game for only the 2nd time evar. First time didn't go so well (I won but played awfully) but this time I had 48 SCVs and 80 food at the 10 minute mark (with stim/combat shield almost done and +1 on the way)! Go me! I **** all over some slightly favored zerg to retake #1 in my division. Who cares if I have 57 wins and he only has like 36 and is just 3 points behind me, I HAVE STYLE.

I think it's been a fairly common opinion since the queen buff. I'm not sure how much of it is just a result of the buff making probably the most common TvZ opener very non-threatening though.

Lost to cannon rushes twice today, want to kill myself. Worst part was both times I held it off but took me 12-15 mins to get enough marines to do so and by then I was so far behind in economy I couldn't even catch up to droolers that don't know how to play games longer than 8 minutes
