just had a nap and the following dream:


in a vietnam-like area. we are holed up in a garrison with a strong force, enemy is advancing. i'm a soldier but I have influence with the command. I come up with the idea that when the enemy gets close, we send 5 void rays to their base and then forcefield our ramp. on finding the vietcongs undefended command center, the void rays roast it, but my hat keeps falling over my head and I miss the big forcefield. the vietcongs pour in and we suffer heavy heavy losses but defeat them all. (not really sure how the mechanics of my dream worked as I was in two places at once, and I was also fighting in the battle in the garrison). we go to bury the dead soldiers outside the base when I suddenly hear bullets whizzing by and crazed screams in the distance. ****. after thinking we'd have time to treat the dead and wounded and then get to our cars and get the **** out of there, our short wave radar guy finds that there's a **** load of VCs heading our way. there's about twelve of us left and we are certain to die with no way of leaving the garrison to get to our vehicles. then I had a brilliant idea. dropped a pylon and 30 seconds later I was building a robo bay and support facility. chrono'd the **** out of 3 warp prisms and speed boost and got out of there in the nick of time.

Right... the starcraft dreams I've had never go like that.

Usually it's me all in-ing someone and causing them to rage with some weird variances.

How? Like the best way I can think of to deal with it is just make some voids (3+) but I have some issues with making more than like 2 void rays.

I've been doing some heavier immo play too, but I always did that even 3 seasons ago.

if guys make voids i just pretend they dont exist and go bust him with roaches anyways

immortal/sentry/zealot, except they do it blindly

the real answer is just to learn to forcefield, but most toss can't do that

i was just dicking around with some custom build orders in games vs. no opponents while talking to someone on gchat

was shocked when during one of the games other units showed up from another player

apparently i started a ladder game by habit when quitting out of one of the custom games and just tabbed back from my convo thinking it was against no opponent

i lost

i just played a protoss named BoxeR who is easily one of the best players ive ever played. his mmr was equal to mine (his skill was like 10x obv), but he didnt have many games played and they were all diff races

im talking average of 240+ APM the whole game, ridic multi-tasking, sick unit control, sick ffs, macro a little shoddy

Here's a noobier question. Say I finish a refinery and I grab a couple SCVs to start mining gas and...one of them is HOLDING MINERALS it hasn't yet returned to base. He goes into the refinery, comes back out, and I only see him holding gas. Are the minerals lost forever or do I get credited for them when he comes back with the gas too?

If a drone that turns into a hatchery is holding minerals or gas it should definitely get added to your resources when the hatch finishes. Makes no sense for it not too!!!!!!!

I think I need to simplify things a little and just work on macro - like, shoot for big bio force at 10 mins and push out, don't worry about tech labs/reactors, don't worry about upgrades, just focus on making SCVs, and maybe set some kind of goal for myself like 5 games in a row with 48 SCVs at 10 minutes and I can add a gas/upgrade/something like that. When I just build a ****ton of barracks it's a lot easier to focus on macro, but when I add in trying to hit a factory by 7 minutes/put up 2 gas while building my second CC/reactor the factory and switch the starport onto it when it finishes/etc etc it's just too much to focus on at once.

In one of his vids Day9 talked about tapping - like, constantly pressing 4 5 6 4 5 6 or whatever your keys are to cycle through your buildings while you're doing other stuff to quickly check on them and make sure they're all doing something. Is that something everyone does and I should teach myself to do? Cause right now I only think to build SCVs when I hear "SCV ready" and if I'm too preoccupied with something else to notice that sound I'm def gonna miss a round of SCVs. Queuing 2 up at once gives me some leeway but I still **** up a lot.

That's something I'm really bad at personally (although as zerg it's a little less important) but if you can get into the habit of constantly tapping your production keys throughout the whole game it will be hugely beneficial. If nothing else it means you're constantly selecting the buildings, which reminds you to build units, even if you're not consciously checking how far along the current round of units are.
