I just play custom 1v1s on Day Break (or whatever the most popular map is at the moment). Games fill quick, average player is probably plat/dia but good way to get better fast rather than team games IMO.
Also, watch GSL games for players who play the race similar to how you want (for example Parting for macro toss, MarineKing for micro terran, Nestea for reactive zerg...). Watch the production tab to see how they order their stuff and check out some times so you can check how close you are to doing it right (totally made up example 6:00 minutes 5 marines, bunker, CC, 2 rax and 2 gas). Doing that should get you to plat for any race.
