Beat: 2 rax + expand doesn't give me a very large army size. My winning streak just ended against a zerg who came at me with wayyy more roaches/zerglings than I could handle about 8-9 minutes in after I'd expanded.

Assuming you are talking about the 2 rax expand involving a gas + tech lab and reactor, you should only be doing that build in TvP.

Just played a TvZ where when I scouted my opponent's base as I built my 2nd rax, and saw he expanded early - so, I decided to go 3rax -> medivacs and try to rush him instead of expanding. My first attack (right as I finished stim) took out his expo, my 2nd attack (now with medivacs!) cleaned up. Felt good to make a good read!

That said, he did surprise me with mutas in my base as I attacked - it didn't matter since his base was dead, but I need to figure that out sooner so I can have turrets ready.

Aaand now I lost with the 2rax expand being overwhelmed by zealots. That build isn't working for me.

Are you not making bunkers or something?

it has nothing to with his build or unit selection or micro or decision making. he has bronze level mechanics. we should try and not convince him with builds and all that crap. ime the best thing for him to do is keep doing the 3 rax all-in every game until he gets much better mechanics.

so many people get stuck in sc2 and never progress cause they assume they are losing because of unit selection or build approaches or micro and either ask questions on those things or get frustrated and quit.

until you hit like high diamond there are 2 primary reasons you are losing:

-you arent making enough workers
-you arent making enough units

my friend here IRL recently switched to zerg (as ive shared a few times), and i just basically taught him how to max on roaches without worrying about everything else. dont even worry about match-ups really (altho zvz is different obv).

just had him focus on:

-making drones
-not having idle larva
-not getting supply blocked
-not missing injects
-taking bases at the appropriate times

and not worry about much else. barely even worry about what villain is doing. with like a few weeks of games (and he doesnt even play that much) he's starting to play guys in low masters.

I'm not doing 3 rax all in though, it's 3 rax -> get troops until my minerals get a little high -> expand. Maybe it's not optimal but I'm clearly struggling against early pushes otherwise.

i mean that's fine. that's just the name of the build "the 3 rax all-in" so people know what it is.

From now on, when someone says "glhf" I'm not answering, because those are the people that I am least likely to have fun against.

For example, I got matched against this guy who was doing placement matches or something cause he hasn't played in 3 months. He finished masters Terran in several seasons and was a total assclown talking **** during the game like beating someone in bronze is a big accomplishment. Go **** yourself.

Another "glhf" guy built a hatchery in my natural and rushed me with lings, and won. Go **** yourself.

It was quite satisfying later though when some other guy tried to 6pool me and, despite having to pull my SCVs to fight the good fight two different times, I held him off and raped his base with marines/marauders/medivacs.

btw, is there an easy way to see what your winrate is against each race?

yeah, 2 rax is no good against zerg , unless you cut scvs at 12 and they hatach first then you can get 3 rines and a bunker at their natural

I would stick to 2 rax in TvP though- and if you 3 rax in tvp then you should just 4 rax +1(2 tech 1 reactor 1 plain to be floated or proxied)

4 rax is hard for zerg to stop aswell I think if you out micro banelings and pull scv

I think a 3rax vs terran is really bad because any 111 build willl destroy it and its easy to defend a base against just bio

I hate it when people say anything other than gl hf because then I get thrown into a spiral of doubt and confusion trying to understand if there's some kind of hidden meaning to what he says. For example, if he says "glgl" does that mean he thinks I will need a lot of luck to beat him plus he doesn't care if I enjoy the match at all? Or if he says "hi hf" is he an ultracompetitive guy who wants me to have fun but really doesn't want me to catch any breaks?

And then I forget to put a depot down at 10 and I lose.

The only thing that puts me on tilt at the start of a game is the people that say "hf hf"

I've learned this the hard way I def struggle with unit composition TvT. When someone has a base defended with siege tanks I'm thinking banshees, and then when they also have turrets I'm like...



One thing I started doing yesterday which was pretty successful was pulling the SCV I use for my supply depot and scouting with him always, even on 1v1 maps; after doing a pass through my opponent's base I'll leave him behind the mineral line at his nat and know exactly when he expands. I won two games just by attacking my opponent right after an early expand.

Also, did 2v2 placement matches with orange. Together, we are platinum.

against T just drop 2 medivacs by their minerals 2 seige tanks and one bio and just seige.. its usually hard for them to engage the tanks because of buildings. Can do this with the 111- but you have to attack the natural at same time after they pull their army

Against T I would go 111 expo and send first banshee over to their mineral line without cloak do as much damage as poss then go home and repair it- if they have std marine tank army banshees ain't no good really, need rauders medivacs stim and a pre split before you amove into the tank line. THe banshee attack sometimes makes them build like 3 turrets which is good

Another build is going 3 facts... 2 tech 1 reactor.. pretty all in but if they 1 rax expo is a gtd win pretty much I find..
I usually send supply scv, but against protoss you can send the one who makes the rax or if its a big 4 player map than send one from cc at 14

From what circle of hell come the people that lose to you in a long macro game, then **** talk how easy your race is (my ZvP) while in a lower league than me. Then when I tell them I'll play them in a PvP or a TvP, they say they won't play because it wouldn't even be fun how bad they'd win. Then they put me on ignore but continue to trash talk.

When I lose to a zerg I usually just feel shame
