The engagement: you could have won the game easily. He has 2 pylons near his gates, if you kill those the gates lose power and he can't use them anymore. You killed his stalkers then started attacking a gate. If you killed the 2 pylons instead it's gg.
lol me, I'm an idiot. Appreciate the advice and thanks for watching the replay. The reason I posted that one is that watching it from his perspective, he really didn't seem that good - like, he got supply blocked at 10, delayed in building **** a couple times. I def felt while watching it like I should have been able to win that.

Yeah, that makes sense. Can't expect to be crushing people right off the bat.
The ladder version of antiga is hilariously broken. Pretty amazing that it has been allowed to stay in the map pool for year with all spawns enabled + gold bases. Ridiculously hard to stop a two base marine tank push in close positions and very zerg favored in ZvP if the zerg exploits the gold base.
I had no one to practice with tonight and didn't feel brave enough for battle.net games so I did 8 practice games vs. the AI (Protoss) on Steppes of War to practice my 3rax build (against a very hard AI). I lost all of them. Should I be able to beat very hard AI with this strategy? This replay was my most valiant effort, I think, at least in terms of executing the build well (keeping SCV production up, keeping my barracks busy, not getting supply blocked) but the battle when I got to the AI's base still wasn't very close. By this metric:

I was doing slightly better, as I had 5 marauders and 13 marines at 7:30. I repelled a rush by the AI (took me down to 3/7 marauders/marines) and then counterattacked with 7/11, which lost handily to an army of 3 immortals/3 stalkers/4 zealots/1 sentry.
So yeah, not sure if I should be discouraged that I can't win these games at all.
lol, a very idra-like quit there. You were behind, but you certainly hadnt lost.
Im not sure what kindve build orange taught you, but you should probably build a 2nd CC around 22 supply or whenever you have the money to do so, you choose to build 2 depots instead. Build the depots after the CC, hold off his wimpy ass pressure, then have 2 bases to his 1.
Also, when you are in battle, you want to kite your units back so the zealots dont get as many shots off. In the replay you just kindve sat there and watched the battle like a spectator. Lastly, you quit out with 1000+ minerals banked and your opponent was nowhere near your base. As terran, you're never really out of the game until he's inside your production line. Build a CC, and 3 more barracks, and keep spamming marines and marauders, and that probably wouldve been enough to win.
Haha, I wasn't rage-quitting or anything, I was just trying to focus on the early build + initial attack and wasn't trying to worry about later stuff yet. The point of 3raxing is a quick rush before you expand, right?
costanza - there are a few different builds. there is a 2 rax pressure expand that is pretty solid. it's reactor first and then tech lab while researching concussive...you start to move out right when concussive finishes (which is also right when you'll have enough minerals to drop a CC).
obviously the 3 rax is constant production though...goofy's problem is that he forgets to build units as well as gets supply blocked often; both things that will be fixed with experience.
Brag: Won a game (against a bronze lol)
Beat: Played terribly
Beat: Learned I should not play multi games while drinking b/c my already terrible macro gets even worse
Variance: Opponent was even worse than me, he expanded twice without ever having a bigger army than...six zerglings. I have no idea what his build was supposed to be, he went spawning pool -> evo chamber -> lair/roach warren? The warren had just completed when I came in with like 8 marines/2 marauders and took out his third, and he snap quit before I even got to his natural. Maybe he was going for mutas?
I look forward to the day that winning a game doesn't feel like such a ginormous accomplishment that I have to post about it.
Just played a few games before work, man I'm awful. Lost to each of P/Z/T due to...
- letting P get a proxy pylon behind my nat, which is disappointing cause I think I did a good build that game
- initially having a solid advantage over Z; I was crushing his army early on (at around 50 supply), then I decided I needed medivacs before taking out his base so while I was waiting for those he came in with mutas which, as always, I was completely unprepared for
- played an awful T who was slightly better than me. game took 47 minutes when he had like 4-5 bases to my 2 because I'm awful at expanding. He sent like two huge armies to my base that I turned away before he finally took out enough of my production to win it on the 3rd. he gg'd me before his final attack (to be fair I imagine it's not often he gets to do that to people) so I ran around with SCVs building a command center every 20 seconds to keep myself from getting unrevealed for like 10 minutes before he finally ended it. I'm not even sure what mechanic ended the game, he didn't take out my last SCV and I still had a ****ton of minerals.
