its just to encourage you to play more.

back in wc3 your exp would decay and you could lose levels if you didnt play any games for x amount of days, but in sc2 they decided instead to reward you for being active by giving you a bonus pool of pts that accrue over time. the pool is capped so if you dont play for a long time you wasted all those bonus pts you could have been using in the meantime.

The difference though was that in WC3 to not lose ranking to decay you only had to play 1-2 games a week or something like that. In SC2 to keep up with your bonus pool you have to play like 10-15 games a week. Also it makes it ridiculously difficult for people entering the ladder late to catch up with those who have been in since day 1. They have to work through an insane amount of bonus points.

the other day I was playing against a terran on xel naga and my drone scout saw he took both gas geysers before his rax was even done

I figured banshees were coming so when they got there I had 2 queens and a spore at each base

he quit right after his banshees died

I mean, he's obviously behind, but most people play it out

It's kind of all in though. He had to get early gas and cut scvs I'm sure. If those banshees don't do a ton of dmg it's gg.

Point is he's going to lose against a competent player though.

Granted we are discussing a game in which I have not seen the replay for. If I were to stay no matter what and I know I'm behind, I'm gonna probe/drone/svc like nuts. But that's a stylistic thing.

To watch these VODs does not require any Season tickets and will be available for free just by signing into our website. The VODs will be available until the start of GSL Season 3, so the VODs will be deleted on Nov 22nd along with the comments under each VOD.

We hope a lot of you can enjoy the great games from the GSL Season 3 Preliminary Rounds. Thank you.
