I find Terran to have by far the easiest macro, and I play Zerg lol. I find it pretty easy to keep up with Terran because you can be a little quick on your production cycles due to the ability to queue. You can't do that with injects or warp-in cycles because it doesn't let you. Basically, all 3 races punish you for being late on your production, but Terran is the only race that doesn't also punish you for being early. I can see philly's point about having to know what to build, but it doesn't take that long at all to figure out. Once you do, it's never a problem again.

Similarly, with MULEs, if you forget to drop one, you can always drop it later. You don't lose that opportunity (provided you don't cap at 200 energy, of course, but it's really hard to be that bad). If you miss an inject or miss a warp-in cycle, you don't get that back. I guess chronoboost works the same way as MULEs, but chronoboost falls off pretty hard lategame IMO. You just run out of things to chrono, so it's just not useful. I suspect that's why Toss are getting the extra nexus spells in HotS, so that Tosses have something to do with all their capped energy Nexii.

I think my view of it is also supported by how the races play currently. Terran seems to be the most micro-intensive race, so they are compensated by having easier macro. Zerg and Protoss have harder macro, so they are compensated by easier micro.

Terran macro is by far the most difficult in the game and it's not close at all

Zerg macro is much easier and far more forgiving

I've played both races for at least 6 months each

Stating your experience with the two races in no way makes it a fact. This argument pops up in here once every 4ish months and it always goes round and round.

Nobody has yet to dispute the arguments that narwhal just put forward. His arguments also jive with the majority of the pro matches which have zerg and protoss lagging slightly behind terran in terms of supply throughout most of the game.

All of this changes once the game reaches max however, since toss and zerg can pool production while terran cannot.

The best of all is the "LOL queue" argument. Every single macro terran queues units, and rightfully so.

I would have to agree that terran is the hardest race to play in a macro game, especially now after the series of terran nerfs. My experiences playing random made me respect protoss players a lot less and respect macro terrans a lot more.

Karak's argument makes sense in the narrow scope he's talking about, but it's not really fair to use such a scope as an assessment.

darn

i thought the fact that i, a casual, mid-masters NA player, had played both races for 6 months each made it an incontrovertible fact that no one on the face of the earth could refute

i guess i was wrong

but seriously let's all agree protoss is the easiest race to play, shall we?

Someone created a custom map that allows you to save/load game states. It's still being worked on, so it isn't perfect yet, but if it ever does get perfected, it's going to probably become tournament standard.

I messed around a little bit with AI, and it seems pretty good so far.

Edit: Unfortunately, you can't retain the saved states if you exit the game right now (like how you retain saved BOs in YABOT).

This is probably the worst timing for a patch I can remember. Lololol. Right before two tournaments with prize pools of 20k+ each? I love Blizzard but seriously....come on.

Patch 1.1.2 came out the day before MLG DC or something. Had much more changes than this one (roach range, barracks requires depot, reaper speed on factory tech, void ray damage change, building HP increases, etc).

I saw that earlier. Both stupid. Fortunately that just effected one tournament with a 7k prize pool. This one is much more lol with two tournaments with prize pools that are 40k+.

1.1.2 affected so much more gameplay though. I think we both agree that a patch in such close proximity to any major tournament is bad, though.

Tbh, I won't be surprised to see two Zerg wins. The tournaments are going to be played in that time after a unit gets nerfed (ghosts in this case) where they're not used at all because people are idiots and think "ZOMG NERF, UNIT NOW WORTHLESS". And if anyone tries that phoenix upgrade, I suspect it will be a very poorly thought-out 2base phoenix range rush or something, in which case they'll just die to roach spam because they'll have ten phoenixes with range 6 and nothing else lol.
