Not really sure to be honest.

This season I have 74 wins.

Overall I have right around 170 total 1v1 wins. Keep in mind though that at least half of these came when I really, really sucked.

Right now I'm facing almost exclusively silver players. Just checked and 9 of my last 10 opponents have been silver, and the one who wasn't was that diamond player who purposefully tanked his MMR for whatever reason.

It's to the point now where I'm shocked if I see that the opponent I just faced was bronze.

So that leads me to believe I'm right on the cusp of being promoted. Maybe I don't play enough? Although 74 wins in one season seems like quite a bit of play for someone who plays as a hobby, no?

I think I should post a few replays, some wins and some losses, and see what you guys have to say about them. I was waiting to do so until after I got promoted (don't know why, just wanted to keep focusing on what I'm doing right now I guess) but I think it's probably in my best interest to post some games now.

Can anyone give me a link to the best site to use for replays? I have an account with one but I can't remember which one it is.

You'll get promoted no later than your first placement match of the next season imo.

Well over half the player pool is bronze.

I dunno, I know what you mean. Part of it for me has to be that I only take the game seriously in spurts, and even then I don't practice anymore.

I just ladder and try to do the builds I do as well as I can. I'm sure my builds are sub-optimal so that's probably a big factor as well.

Just recently (less than 20 wins ago) did I realize that I shouldn't really be using siege tanks against toss and that MMM is much more effective against most toss unit compositions.

Not trying to make excuses, just giving some insight into my situation. As I said above, I'm going to post some replays and see what the better players think.

I'm going to feel so much pressure to win that placement match lol, even though I know my fate is already determined before that match ever starts.

Well I never was bronze, I didn`t play BW nor did I watch it. When I first played SC2 I only knew a bit about the basics. Like I need Pylons workers etc. I came from WC3( I was good there if I would rate myself there with the SC2-System I would say midmasters)
But when I see these Bronzeplayers that have a ****load of games I just dont get it.

It`s like they don`t learn from their mistakes at all -.-.

I remember my first losses in SC2, one was vs a proberush, one vs DTs(I didnt even know what an obs is lol) one was vs Reapers(Man that **** was imba back in the days), 6pool(6Pool was imba too^^).

Pretty sure if I go over 2 of your games, you will crush the next games with my advice because Bronzeplayers just make super basic mistakes(Not building enough drones being supplyblocked, not having enough production etc.)

Just memorize some builds up to about 30 food and keep practicing them over and over in a build order tester until you get really really sharp. That's what I did, that's how my 4 gate was so good. I never really thought about it until Zefa kept beating me 4g vs 4g and while he will still probably beat me by virtue of better decision making/micro, there is no doubt in my mind that my 4 gate will always be as fast as his.

fwiw this is my first ever rts game so I'm certainly behind the 8 ball as far as that goes.

But yeah I look forward to hearing what you and other have to say about the games I post. (which I hope to have up later tonight)

What is this build order tester you speak of?

there is a map where you can just build and click reset without having to start a newgame everytime

Not sure what gave you this impression but its not true. Each league represents 20% of the active player pool, except for masters and diamond which make up 2% and 18% respectively.

hmmmm, I saw a post on reddit that talked about how many people were in each league.

I am in basically the identical situation to him except as Zerg. I only have 70 wins overall though, 60 this season. I am 1st in my league and playing nearly all silvers. Have met only one guy who was definitely someone who tanked his MMR and he crushed me (although game last 30 minutes I was never ahead or with any chance to win).

Is it worth practicing with the build order tester? I have recently started playing the macro and micro trainer a little bit and find them quite difficult.

Fwiw I go hatch first/gas/pool vs T. 14gas/14pool vs P and 14pool/14gas vs Z. However I still don't have any real solid plans so to speak after this and my scouting sucks. Usually Roach vs P. Ling/Bling vs T. Then Muta or infestor in both depending on what I feel is better at the time. Vs Z, ling bling at start usually as its pretty hectic, then roach infestor. I die to air like, all the time.

ok i think? i fixed my game. my mmr is bouncing back heartily at least. i still cant beat protoss most of the time, but i can win zvz and zvt again now.
