Yeah, I killed/denied (I forget) an expand of his and thought he was on one base as I had pylons at all the other expands, and he had made like 2 hatches in my base earlier. Then mutas showed up lol.

Regarding macro/micro

Man this game is so similar to poker with the highs and lows. One minute you think you're the next MVP (exaggerating obv) and the next you wonder if you'll ever win another match.

At least when you lose you don't lose money though.

yup. i often am reminded by the 6 month quest i put in to learn mid stakes HU lololomaha a couple years ago. (it ended very badly). after a night of bad play and tilt, i'd wake up the next morning feeling like **** cause i blew so much playing like garbage while trying to learn.

except w/ SC2 it's MMR and not 10k... and i usually dont wake up thinking about it in the morning haha

otoh when i have a 15 game win streak in SC2 i dont get the same payoff as FTing a sunday major*, so it goes both ways.

time to go play some live poker. fml

Emotional highs and lows of poker was much more extreme than starcraft for me. Super jesus upswing = manic high. One month downswing = clinical depression. When I win a game in starcraft = Meh, the other guy sucked. Lose a game in starcraft = extreme saltiness.

Bleh now that I grind again 8-10hours/day there is not really time for starcraft left

I've been playing a couple games here and there lately and it's been super frustrating. Every single game I get crushed by a style I've never seen before/don't understand or I end up way far behind and have to rely on being cost effective to win.

The only time I ever really build up a lead is when it's 4 gate vs 4 gate(I'm usually even or faster) and when I play a Terran that can't macro.

Having comeback wins is fun, but not when it's every single game that I win.

That's actually not that much. Doesn't Destiny stream more than pretty much any known player? That ends up being like $1.5k a month, which is pretty pitiful by normal standards. Then again, you're getting paid to play a video game, and I would much rather grind a 40hr week streaming than 40hrs anywhere else.

destiny really failed big time to cash in on his fame and personality.

he's past his peak, but he still has some time and continues to fail at it.

it's mind boggling, but i guess he just doesnt have the business sense to figure it out. his obsession with making it as a player rather than a personality has likely cost him tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars.

see: day9, artosis, tasteless, etc.

can you imagine if day9 gave up all of his personality marketing and side ventures and just dedicated himself to becoming a winning player again? destiny's personality could have been the most popular in all of sc2 if he dropped the player angle, but he never could. ive even talked to him a few times about it personally. he just wants to be a player. i mean part of you has to admire that, but in a "sport" like this, only a very few top players will ever make real money*.

*and by IRL/poker standards, it's still not that much.

Well it depends on if his goals are monetary or not.

I think 10k ad impressions/day is pretty low for him. He probably wasn't streaming that much cuz of the holidays? How many viewers does he average at peak viewing time?
