not even that great mechanics

Ya I watched his stream for about 4 hours today (work super slow) and he is suppppperrrr cheesy. Tons of cannon rushing, dts and 4 gates. Liked some of his double stargate stuff after a FFE though.

I'm in bronze 1v1 and I just played a diamond. The game before that I played a silver (who I crushed).

Feeling a promotion coming down the pipe soon...

I wouldn't put too much weight into the Diamond player if you're bronze. Maybe the silver though, but still, that doesn't mean much. I heard it's hard getting out of bronze, but I could be wrong.

Think of it this way. I'm in Platinum as Protoss. I switched to zerg and lost enough to play some silvers. Those guys probably think "oh man, I'm probably going to get promoted soon."

In actuality, I blew my MMR and so I'm probably looking at a demotion more than they are looking at a promotion.

In other news, I am now 5-0 as Protoss since switching back, and am currently playing Gold level players. I'm getting +32 to +34 pts for each win and am just about back to the same rank that I was before I started losing every game. It's one good way to inflate your rankings.

EDIT: Actually, I'm +15pts since playing Zerg and then switching back to Protoss. My record this season since the 1st game as Zerg is 7-24.

i think you have to start playing upper level ppl of the rank higher than you before you get promoted, right? like top 8 or something? i only play <rank 50 masters and they're all so scrubby/don't even play much

I think you just have to maintain a >50% winrate vs the higher league as well as your current one. I don't think ladder rank means anything at all. I mean, if you're good enough to be playing the upper echelon of the league above you, your MMR should be high enough that you've already been promoted.

I'd have to go back and check but I'm quite sure the silver I beat was ranked 2nd in his division.


On a semi related note: yesterday I played a bronze who had over 3,000 wins just for this season alone. How is that even possible?

Definitely a possibility.

The only reason I mentioned it was because A) I've never faced a diamond, B) it came after a hot streak of me crushing a ton of fellow bronze players and C) it was immediately after I beat a high ranked silver.

I don't think you're going to magically start playing true Diamond players. Maybe someone who is dropping their MMR. So even though their shiny icon shows a Diamond doesn't mean their MMR is in the Diamond zone.

Just like mine shows Platinum, but I was in the Gold/Silver zone.

I thought I was pretty clear in my explanation, however, there is a history behind him and I re-fixed the problem. That is all.
