also there are many variations of the 1-1-1. some get cloak. some get a raven for PDD. some don't get siege mode.

my plat level 1-1-1.

obviously you go 1 rax 1 fact 1 port, and a combination of units from these.
my preferred at the moment is rax constantly pumping marines, fact pumps tanks, port pumps banshee. no cloak, no stim, no shield, do have siege mode.
push when siege is done, this generally gets you handful marines, three tanks, 1 banshee. the second banshee gets there just as you are about to attack. siege up tanks so you can hit above ramp, use banshee for vision.

Obviously a lot of variation here, you can go raven for pdd instead of banshee, you can go maruaders and cut somewhere else (vike instead of banshee for example) you can cut siege mode and 1 tank, getting hellion and cloak instead.
One thing I'm toying with is dropping banshee for vike and picking up ghost, but i don't have the exact combination worked out yet.
Most of the pro level 1-1-1s I've seen involve a raven for pdd, but I'm not very good about knowing when to drop my pdd.

Again, I think it would be more powerful with a ghost in there, so I'm trying to work on that. maybe a ghost/maurader/hellion/vike or medivac

what the hell is going on when i make the gateway, it just stays on the image of the gateway, doesn't make and then cancels on its own a short while later

Without looking at the replay I'm guessing your probe can't reach the destination. I'll take a look tho...

It's almost certainly what pwn said.

EDIT: Yea, your probe was on stop command while trying to build. You can also use that to stop people from building buildings in certain places.

Also I had a super annoying scenario yesterday. I built my core gate and first pylon around the edge of my Nexus and rallied my first zealot to the enemy probe. He turns to go behind my mineral line and bam my zealot pops out stuck into an area I can't build at the corner of my Nexus and surrounded by 3 buildings. Annoying as can be.

I watched the replay. I have no answer. His probe is sitting in the spot that the gateway is going to be placed and the runs around does nothing and goes back to mining.

Just watched the rep. You told your scouting probe (sitting in the bottom left main) to build the gate. If you watch carefully, you'll notice that as it makes it back to the ramp around your third, you issue it a move command to go scout somewhere else, and the ghost-image of the gate disappears.

I thought something was fishy when the probe sitting in the ghost image didn't have the little red ring indicating you had it selected did not show up when the gate image did. A little detective work showed you had the scout probe selected, and this is further confirmed by the build icon staying highlighted during his trip back towards your main.

At some of the mathguys:

If X vs Y is 2.00 at +1.5 then he needs to win this bet 33% of the time to make it BE. So what kind of winrate does he need to make this bet BE?(Bo 3). Is it 16.666%?

I was under the impression that 2.00 is the odds and +1.5 is the spread (over a bo3). I'm assuming we're talking sc2 here.

if player x at +1.5 is 2.000 using decimal betting odds, you need to win the bet 50% of the time.

So I would say in a bo3 he has to win 1 game. Which means he must win either the 1st or the 2nd.

odds of winning game 1 + odds of winning game 2 = 50%
assume odds of winning g1 = odds of winning g2
so I'd say he needs a 25% win rate to THEORETICALLY make this profitable.

I evaluate +1.5/-1.5 lines way differently than this method, so i could be way off here.

25% would be a losing proposition, the other guy wins 2-0 0.75*0.75 of the time which is >50%. the breakeven winrate for the better guy is sqrt(0.5)

this obviously assumes that they're independent events and the winrate stays the same yadda yadda meow chow
