The game is a lot different than it was 6 months ago. The only thing I do the same is 4 gate PvP. I don't really see that being a reason to not ladder unless your only goal is to be at the very top. I just enjoy playing and improving and I don't think there is ever a point where you can't improve.

There is also a ton of fun in trying/coming up with new builds.

PvZ and TvZ winrates in NA and EU are both near 60% (ranging from 57 to 59), whereas in Korea the winrates are much closer.

However, if you consider the inherent statistical biases that come from a matchmaking system, things are much different. You also need to consider the ratios of races in Masters/GM. Like if KR GM has 99 Ts and Nestea and Nestea goes .600 in ZvT, the ZvT winrate is 60%, which is obviously flawed. If Protoss, for example, is struggling terribly overall and fewer of them are rising to the top as a result, their MMRs will be suppressed relative to their skill and the winrate ratios are useless (obviously they aren't entirely useless, just in this extreme example).

I`m amazed that it is so much in favor of protoss in NA/Europe.

It's gotta be a serious pain in the ass to balance this game with Korea and then everyone else.

Not necessarily. Certain strategies will always be easier to execute than others.

If Bronzeplayers would know about 1-1-1, Protossplayers in Bronze would just die, seriously lol.

well then, the game probably won't ever really be "balanced" for top level play

for example: terran sucks in bronze league so you can't nerf marines or terran would be too bad in bronze league.


but in korean GM, marines are obviously too strong, but they will never be nerfed due to the effect it will have on NA bronze league. therefore, 111 allin will always be overpowered in korean GM.



balance for the top IMO, and let everyone else adjust and learn how to play a properly balanced game.

Someone should invite starcraftstrategyrankings.com^^ with bots crawling to every Profile and analyzing matchhistorys.
Like that you could see how often Terrans do 1-1-1 and what winrate they got with it etc.
Maybe Blizzard got stats like that.

You assume Blizzard cares about the state of balance in lower leagues which is not true. At least not to the same degree that they care about pro level play.

What I meant though was like consider that top say 50 players can execute a build or micro technique but no one else can. Balancing around that build or technique can be tricky because of the effects it will have on both tiers of top level players.

Good points, I think you're right in that Zerg is probably under powered in both realms based on your analysis.

Also, the sample size evaluation/sample breaks discussions based on patches were really well highlighted by Blizzard. All in all some outstanding analysis and what a simple and yet informative table that paints a thoroughly understandable picture.

No no, I am very interested in how easy terran is and how you solved it, I feel like your high-level mind applied from pieces of zerg and protoss play will certainly bring an end to all terran woes. Have you considered submitting some of your builds to some of the Korean professional squads? I think MVP is currently having trouble with his TvP and would appreciate some sort of support there.
