Yeah real professional for a manager to come out with a statement and go on a tangent on twitter while EG didn't even make an official statement yet. Can't believe why almost no one on TL is hating on this guy, you can see why entire TSL is going to **** when you got a person like that in the lead. (FYI everyone is jumping ship on TSL)

Imagine if EG could have made an official statement and this TSL-manager didn't go on a twitterwar. You know what would've happened? The same way people responded to Rain joining FnaticMSI, the same way people reacted to FXO buying out fOu.

It's all about how you present it, the manager of TSL ruined it for EG, and to me it's hilarious the posters on team liquid can be deluded and pushed to the edge so easily.
I don't think the manager of TSL cares if he ruined it for EG when they stole away a player?

I don't think there's anything wrong with approaching a player and offering him 2x his contract with another team at all. The player will have to examine his contract and see if the offer is worth breaking the contract, and the current team will have to re-evaluate the players worth and see if they want to counter or let him go.

It seems that Puma thought breaking his current contract was fine based on the offer from EG and it seems that the manager of TSL either couldn't offer him any more incentive to stay or didn't want to. So what's the big problem?

I also don't see the problem with the manager of TSL venting. If he feels like EG was in the wrong he should of course call them out about it. Whether he is in the right or in the wrong, only more education can come from it and more knowledge is gained for the future.

TL;DR people are getting butt hurt about silly things.

I agree with you about EG stuff.

I just feel the right thing for the TSL-manager to do was making these statements after EG made an official announcement (or even better - not at all)

Sheth's tweet on the matter is pretty much on the money, on phone and can't copy it easily though

Certain parts of the United States have huge Korean populations. I think it will be pretty common for Korean players to come over here as the progaming scene matures here.

Hell, I was first introduced to SC1 and Diablo1 by my Korean neighbors back when I was a kid.

Also, **** close positions and 3/3 marines. Zerg would be so much fun if those two weren't so idiotic.

Puma is 19 years old, this is such a great opportunity for him to travel all over the world and play starcraft.

sure it sucks for TSL to raise a player and watch him leave after his first big win,

Playing random is such a good cure for nerd rage. Hard to get pissed off at some of the bull**** that gets thrown your way when you know your gonna do that exact same thing when you roll their race.

Not only can I POSSIBLY BELIEVE IT!?!?!!!! but I know it to be A FACT!!!!!!!! for many teams. And it was reported here by a ton of sources that Puma was not under contract.

So yes, I CAN POSSIBLY BELIEVE IT!!!

How did he get into the NASL anyways? I don't remember seeing his name through the group stages and then all of a sudden he's in the tournament bracket.

EDIT: I could see the debate over the contract issue, but it really is a common courtesy to at least contact the manager of the team and let them know what is going on. It's not like Puma wasn't on a team, he just wasn't contractually obligated to one. The fact that he used their facilities/food/housing/whatever AND for being able to keep 100% of the prize, Puma should have some kind of allegiance to the team who supported him. I think this is more of a case of EG sniping Puma than anything. It's very classless, especially for EG where LoLcontrol is > NASL > wannabe face of eSports. In a game where teams/clans are very highly regarded, no team should be dealing with players when another team is involved. It should all go through managers/agents/whoever.

all this "we are a team based on trust bla bla bla"
They didn't have a contract because they didnt wanna pay a salary to the poor kid.

Yeah he got food and maybe he even got the top bunkbed! This sounds strangely familiar (prison). As far as I am concerned EG saved him

If you really read into his statement it's pretty disgusting how terrible they treat players really, I don't see the appeal of being a pro gamer in Korea at all.

TSL-Lee:

"It's not just TSL, but most Starcraft II teams right now run on trust and faith instead of contracts. Because of many similar occurances [to Puma's case], we plan to make contracts mandatory.

Puma was with us for ten months, and where we provided him and his teammates with a good practice environment, food, etc, and developed him as a player. The team didn't take any of the prize money a player earned, all of it went to the player. Unfortunately, Puma wished to join EG so we released him.

To acquire a player, contacting the original team regarding a transfer is a natural courtesy and the way things should be done. That is why I am very angry, and why it is huge topic in Korea right now. The Korean SC II association is preparing some measures, and I believe something similar won't happen again.

how awesome would it be if sc2 becomes like MLB or the NBA where there are contracts/free agency/trading deadlines/etc?

this situation sucks for TSL but it was a necessary step for the growth of sc2 as an esport. lesson learned for them i guess.

would need a centralized league and a collective bargaining agreement

cant wait for the great bonjwa lockout of 2018

i honestly think the US will take over the SC2 scene as the dominant country soon. Maybe not the dominant origin of players (will still be Korea I think), but all the big $$ tournaments could be here and thus an eventual migration of all the big $$ players.

If how TSL wanted EG to handle this is "how Koreans do it," then the Koreans are destined to fail to superior American businessmen (assuming that really is the case) and industry

This statement right here pretty much points to something existing between Puma and TSL more than "Oh, you wanna be on our team? OK!". But, it's basically being claimed Puma was the same thing as a free agent because he wasn't technically contracted to TSL instead? That's just utter bull**** and everyone knows it. I would act in the same manner as the TSL coach (but an official announcement, not some random tweet). I wouldn't just let it slide that some random team came in and effectively stole my player from under my nose, without even a "by your leave".

Except that in the same exact statement, the coach admitted he didn't have a contract. That's just bull**** language from the TSL coach and the fact that they "released" him is simply illusory. Give up. You're wrong :-).

blink stalker good unit

i think in the 3s and 4s i play with my friends who suck (ie not you guys) i may just start playing protoss and massing blink stalkers w/ upgrades every game.

in every other game i play Z, get attacked first, get crippled and then do nothing but yell at them teh rest of the game.

Just lost a game on that lava map vs a T who gasless expands. I killed 10 marines without losing a single stalker and hurt countless more. Problem is there is no way to engage on that map. It's worse than backwater. T can just have 3 free bases it seems.

[x] Had more workers
[x] Had more bases
[x] Had bigger army
[x] Still lost

I'm pretty sure EG is the New York Yankees of E-sports. I actually think they were within their rights to contact Puma and offer him a contract, I don't think they went about it the right way, but hey that is business sometimes. The West has more money to offer players right now. Puma isn't going to be the first Korean 'poached' by a western team. I don't have a problem with it. It's the way that it is right now.

However the PR douche that was just on Weapon of Choice (a djWheat show) who was attacking Milkis (who translated the article) was sickening at points. Acusing Milkis of being a journalist, while all he did was translate an already posted article when he is doing it, for free(as far as I know) on a community site was disgusting. Plus djWheat's clear bias, ugh, it's just too much. Haven't been so annoyed in quite a while.

That implies they are actually good/have accomplished something/have legends on their team.

Seems more like the Angels. They have a few AL West titles, they have some interesting fans, they are willing to spend money, but they still can't win titles or be consistent.

Yeah but it's hard to hate the Angels, much easier to hate the Yankees. Thats kind of the analogy I was going for.
