3/3 of top 3 are terran.
9/10 of the top 10 are terran.
15/20 of top 20 are terran.

going to be interviewing destiny on QJs... should be sometime this week hopefully. if not, then next week.

will be fun. any questions you guys think would be good to ask which would be pertinent to a crowd not indoctrinated with sc2 but curious about the pro gaming scene?

I'd like to know his opinions on the NASL, IPL, and whatever other tournaments there are right now, what he thinks about their production value, the fact that there is so much going on at once, and most importantly, when he plans to get involved in these tournaments - or at least why he isn't already?

I know that's more about himself, but for someone who has "plans" to be a progamer, it doesn't really seem like he's doing much to make that happen. Just playing the ladder doesn't really make you a progamer, it just makes SC2 a hobby.

I don't know much about him so I don't know how qualified he is to be answering anything as far as eSports as a whole.

And what is QJs?

Ask him why he gets owned so hard by CombatEX not only in sc2, but in trash-talking as well.

You become a professional at something once you receive payment for that activity. Whether through tournaments, endorsements, streaming, whatever. You could ladder exclusively and still be a professional. His earning power is almost certainly higher than anyone not named Idra, etc.

By a pro gamer, I think of someone who enters these tournaments, travels around, becomes a name you see often, etc.

I don't think of Destiny as a pro gamer as I do people like Jinro, IdrA, and you know the rest of who I'm talking about.

But I understand what you're saying.

This is probably something you've already come up with yourself but drawing parallels between poker strategy and starcraft 2 strategy is something I'd try to do. I wouldn't worry about talking poker too much though, although that's based on my personal opinion that SC2 is infinitely more interesting than poker.

Ask him how he plays so much and has such good teammates but sucks so much dick. Also ask him why everyone from Omaha, NE are such ****.

A "professional" is someone who makes their living doing something. With the ad revenue from his stream and the money he makes coaching, Destiny makes around $60,000 a year. This probably puts him in the top 2% of "pro gamers" in terms of annual earnings.

The reason he doesn't travel the world to play tourneys is pretty obvious; he isn't at the same level as the other players you mentioned, and would not be able to compete seriously.

Well then I want to know why not?

I mean, I'm not going to get into a debate about this, but what is so great about him? Why does he have such a huge following? I've watched his stream a bunch of times and he's just a zerg player who tilts and coaches. He didn't get into GM, so what's the deal?

He talks about this a little in his AMA on Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comment...arcraft_2_for/

Quote:
Q: Does it bother you that most pro's don't think you're very good, don't take you seriously, don't believe you should be in ROOT and only think you're popular because of your personality? Or in other words... Think you suck because you actually have real interpersonal skills as opposed to being a complete nerd?

A: A little bit, but I understand why.
I became popular in this game, more popular than a lot of players who are MUCH better than me, due to my personality/humor, not because of my level of skill. Over the past couple of months my personality has remained more-or-less the same but I've improved vastly in skill. That being said, I'm still way more popular than a lot of people who are far far better than me, so it's easy to try and discredit my popularity due to the fact that I originally became popular just because of my personality, despite me still being not-the-greatest at the game.
Sorry, that was a little oddly worded, but it should make sense, right?
He has a large following and a lot of fans because his stream is entertaining. People watch it because he is funny and actually has an enjoyable personality, even if they aren't seeing the absolute pinnacle of competitive play.

Don't get me wrong, Destiny is still pretty damn good. According to SC2 ranks, he is the highest rated player in NA not in grandmaster. He just isn't IdrA/Jinro/Sheth/Machine's level.

I answer your question with a question, why do people like Phil Hellmuth?

But Phil Hellmuth doesn't just sit there in his room and play online poker. He's not a "cyber-personality."

its just a style thing. Some people like that casting style.
You could make the same argument why do people who play Terran watch a Zerg stream. I like the person streaming, its entertaining, and maybe i'll learn something.
Right now Sheth is probalby my favorite stream, only 1 in 3 matches effects me, but i just like watching starcraft and i feel he does a great job commentating. Same with Trump, there are probably a couple higher ranked Ts I could watch, but he does really good commentary. On the other hand, some people really like the **** talking stuff, combatex, destiny, debo etc. thats fine for them, just not my cup of tea.
