Grandmaster is supposedly up tomorrow. You have to play a game (possibly have to win a game) and have a bonus pool <90 before you get the promotion.
If you deserve a spot in Grandmaster, but don't play your game to get promoted and the league fills with 200 people, you are locked out. The only way to get in is to try to get in when someone has 2 weeks of inactivity, basically a 180 bonus pool.

Extreme Variance (seriously, close your eyes kiddies): I had planned to quit poker entirely and forever on March 1st. The one that passed a little over a month ago.
And obviously I'm not just spinning a circle here talking to myself. MLG, currently the most major SC2 competitive circuit in the US, does not allow close spawn on these maps. GSL, the top in the world, has eliminated many (although not all, but these guys have micro on an insane level) of the maps from its pool that allow exploitation of stuff like that.
It's not like I'm speaking with no authority here, and I was limiting to very few situations. I don't like to be seen as an imbalance bitcher outside of me just being tongue-in-cheek (and those posts should be obvious - and I'm also one who does not think ZvP is really that imbalanced, which is the biggest sticking point for Zs right now. I actually think balance in the game is damn close outside of some real high levels of play), but come on now. There's lots of other people who feel so strongly about this that they've changed the rules of major tournaments.
Have you ever been on the MLG forums? The average poster's mental age there must be like 12 dude, so it wouldn't surprise me if it was all the whiny 12 yr old z players that got only no close-spawn maps incorporated into the MLG map pool.

Fraps is really simple and easy to use, IMO. You can record in any quality you like, with or without computer/microphone sounds, though the raw recorded videos tend to be huge (like 20gb for 30 minutes). You need to use like Sony Vegas or Adobe Premier to compress it into a different video format, but if you're recording you probably plan to do some editing with those programs anyway.
I don't know how well it works, but I know some people use it who have really good stream qualities. Try out XSplit.
I have been using Xsplit to stream (stream isn't public yet). It's good, but Trump suggested FMLE and I like his stream quality a bit better than what I'm getting right now so I may try that too.

Fraps spliced em all up into little videos. Is that normal? Anyways for 37 dollars this seems like a fine product.
Also, I tried using Camtasia but it was all buggy... I am using Windows Live Movie Maker. This entire process of compressing and uploading apparently takes 8 years, so I'll try it over night for the first time.
Yeah, mine tends to chop them into smaller videos as well, not really sure why. When you play through them in a video editor there isn't any noticeable hiccup in the video. Sounds like you already have it, but it also lets you select what FPS recording you want (15,30,45,60 IIRC)

lost a battle with 9 collosi/20 stalkers to 3 collosi 25 stalkers, i had moar upgrades.
at least i found my motivation to practice. if i let myself stay this bad im going to jump off a bridge

i dont have the time to push it. i lose lots of games just cause of my ADD tendencies, and im pretty sure i really cannot overcome that to get to the next level. it's something that i struggle hard enough with IRL, and it can make high level SC2 next to impossible. unless i use medication to play sc2 (which i would not do), it simply ain't gonna happen.
like, for example: i just had a long, drawn out zvt on XNC. i was ahead for most of the game, but constantly skirmishing for the side bases to try to get ahead. he never got one, but i mined half of one out and we had army traded enough that we were ahead. i had complete map control and creep everywhere. i even thought to myself: wow this map just doesnt have an easy 4th to take.
