Quick question on the matchmaker and points gains, if anybody knows the details for sure.

The way I understand it, if your actual points are lower than your matchmaker rating, you will gain lots of points for winning and lose very few for losing. For example, I heard that when people first got moved to masters, they were all gaining 30+ points per game and only losing 2-3 points.

If that's true, then there's absolutely no reason for me to tank my rating by throwing games before the season ends to give myself a headstart on easier opponents for next season, right? In fact, I'd climb faster if I actually improved my rating between now and then, by magically starting to not suck somehow?

I'm a points whore. I like to see the numbers go up, even though I know it's absolutely meaningless.

And maybe next season I'll actually be able to stay on top of my bonus pool. (still have over 1k left this season)

I dunno but when I first got promoted to masters it didn't effect my points gained per game at all.

I did see that a lot of higher level players were effected though. Not sure why.

lol i love losing to horrible terrans because i had my queen on hold position on my ramp a pixel to teh right of where she neededt o be.

i just had a terran manage to ramp run me since i apparently dont know the layout of the new backwater gulch ramp (this map is still horrible btw - i seriously dont have enough vetos for the maps where there are strategies that i just have 0 clue how to beat) and as a result of that, kill all of my drones except 5

i nearly won the game. i did no economic damage to him. none. just macro'd for 20 minutes.

and after 25 minuets of macro with me starting out with a queen and 5 drones and him having 30 SCVs

i nearly won the game in a straight up fight

in other news, ive tried to make up all sorts of new wonky builds in zvz with infestors that are different from standard... someoen remind me to just stick to doing this against barrin in the future and not take these losses on ladder.

but i did decide to go infestor/ling/bling to defend a 6 gate. now, granted, villain was really terrible, but his army was equalish size to me and it just got stomped. he even laid some ok forcefields, but his army just absolutely dissolved. it was a thing of beauty to watch. infestors op. i just wish i had a keyboard i could micro with :-P.
