The problem with citing the SAT as a measure of knowledge is that the skills or knowledge it is supposed to report are not always what it measures. You can say it measures your ability to answer those questions under the guidelines but that's not always what we want. Taking the test itself is a skill. I never used to think about it this way until a friend provided me with an analogy.

The group of students in any top 5 law school could probably outscore a new recruit of potential firefighters on the fire fighter exam. It doesn't mean they would be better fire fighters, it just means they are better at knowing how fast plastic burns at x% oxygen on a sunny day.

Or better yet. I haven't taken the LSAT, but I have taken the GMAT. A lot of my preparation was just getting familiar with the test format. The content itself isn't so difficult on a binary scale, but you would need to understand the logic behind the questions. I could have taken the test blind, then taken it again having only learned about the format and I would do considerably better. Which is my problem with it.

I do think there is inherent bias in the SAT. I don't think it's a bad thing necessarily and there is still a need for it(the test that is). But citing it for an objective measure of intelligence is just bad imo. Especially once you get near the top. There may be a correlation but to imply a one to one number reference to an intelligence level is silly.

I mean look at the math section. If you miss one question, depending on the curve for the particular test you will get either 770, 780, or 790. 2 questions is <=760 etc. I mean I know a couple people that pulled off 2400's. Luck is a huge factor. Also iirc, 99% is 2150+ ish. Which is pretty standard for most top schools.

1) Guy says "Econ BS is a joke, anyone who disagrees is an idiot"
2) I cite something quick over the internet that I would imagine precludes me from being an idiot (lol standardized tests and all, but I'd still love to see dumb people score near perfect on the SATs/LSATs at 16/20). I could have used some other imperfect proxy for intelligence like what school I attended or where I work, I figured test scores would get the point across fastest.
3) I certainly intended the douchey implication that "lol guy on the internet, chances are I'm smarter than you". I figured that was a pretty safe assumption given that it would be hard to graduate from an elite school and come away the impression he has, ergo he probably didn't attend an elite school.
4) Maybe guy on the internet realizes he doesn't really know what he's talking about and discovers something new about the world.
5) Much rejoicing.

Agreed, there is not really any satisfactory measure of intelligence. Getting into good schools and succeeding is IMO more a function of self discipline and motivation than intelligence, as is having a high GPA. It does probably show that you are not a complete idiot though. Like I definitely believe I could have easily gotten a 3.9 at least in undergrad school if I tried, but I was more interested in things like girls and warcraft 3.

You realize vrs are supposed to counter corruptors, right? The reason you see z players mass corruptors vs vrs is b/c they can normally outmass & overwhelm the vrs, which isn't as feasible when you let your opponent get 20 vrs. In no way do I mean this as an insult, but this is pretty simple sc2 logic.

yeah, but i didnt realize he coudl pump out so many HTs and VRs at the same time. plus i thought even if he did have a lot, 30 corruptors would be fine. i just didnt want to make mutas cause he had so many HTs + i wanted to morph them into BLs as soon as i downed the voids.

also, on a balance bitching note, an air-to-air only support unit should probably be countered by like... nothing else in the air imo

dude i've told you like 10 times you can't just passively macro anymore. you have to be aggressive in the midgame when you have an economy advantage and the free supply to utilize that economy. it doesn't matter how many bases you have if you're just sitting there maxed out on roaches (which are the least supply efficient unit in the zerg arsenal).

the future of late game zerg is imo going to be baneling bombs. they are the most supply efficient unit in the game and they deal AOE. i actually think they might be OP.

I also got taken apart by mass voids zvp, and I agree with a big issue being not pressuring enough.

Also someone else mentioned this in another thread, but I can't join the /twoplustwo channel... according to blizzard this is a known issue with players who get d/c'd from battle.net while in a channel, and it's something they can't resolve without a patch. so... if you want games you need to msg me.

haha i did move out at 200 supply a few times and did damage every time. i pulled back the last time because he had a few VRs (remidned me of that ogsthewind GSL game where he just kept plunging forward despite the VRs and paid the price) and all i had was broods and roaches. i moved back to make some corruptors and resaturate a few bases and he hit me with zeals and DTs from warp prisms at about that time too... so after i made my corruptors i lost all income and it was a cluster****. the end was my fault, obviously, but i cant believe he was ever in a position to make such a massive HT/voidray army.
