Patch 3.0 is out, relevant stuff:
- the Whispers of Oblivion LotV prequel campaign (3 missions) is available to everyone now, so you can play that if you just have HotS
- Zerg got a little bit of an APM buff in that you can now use ALT to remove units from other control groups when adding them to others. So, for lings and banes in separate groups:

Old way
- Morph banes
- ctrl+click a morphing baneling to select all of them
- hit shift+2 to add them to control group 2
- hit 1 to re-select your lings
- ctrl+shift+click a morphing bane in the unit list to remove them from current selection
- hit ctrl+1 to re-set control group 1 minus the morphing banes

New way
- Morph banes
- ctrl+click a morphing baneling to select all of them
- hit alt+shift+2 to remove them from all existing control groups and add them to control group 2

And you're done!

Is the update slowing things down for anyone else? When ever I leave a game it takes like 5x longer to get back to the select screen.

Randomly tuned into an Olimoleague tournament (which has been LotV for awhile) and I have no idea what I'm seeing.

Finals are Neeb (P) vs. True (Z). Most recent game is on a huge map called Ruins of Seras, and True's build, wish I was making this up:
- quickly get up to like 5 bases, 100ish drones against 3-4 Protoss bases on 70 probes
- Protoss goes up to multiple stargate mass carriers
- Zerg literally makes HUNDREDS of lings, over and over again, and hurls them at Protoss bases in suicide squads while teching up to 3/3 melee and 3/3 air (but making 0 gas units). I think that if at any point during this sequence, Neeb a-moves his carrier army across the map, True doesn't have anything that can kill them or available supply to make some
- after building up to like 10k gas, finally makes like 8 vipers and 30 corruptors, starts trading with the mass carrier army, does some damage but obviously is just slowly whittling it down with a superior bank
- after losing air army, remaxes on FIFTY MUTALISKS
- inexplicably does not use them in a basetradey matter, just tries to fight carriers straight up (???? WTF)
- after they die, REMAXES ON MUTAS AGAIN, TRIES SAME THING
- after they die, remaxes on corruptors (having 100 drones and a billion bases is a magic thing), this time finally takes the air fight to win the game

I don't even know if that's, like, a troll build or something

Didn't watch game, but I still think the protoss ****ed up somehow.

I have yet to see a Zerg, professional or not, beat mass carrier.

Playing an unranked game on bronze smurf against platinum Protoss, Cactus Valley.

His first probe gets to my base SUPER fast as my drone scout goes out, I figure it's a pylon scout and when I show up at his base there's a probe ready at the pylon at his natural wall. I assume it's going to build a forge and he's planning to cannon so I send a drone down to my natural, he follows, I start my pool and attack his probe to fake like I'm trying to expand. He drops a pylon to block my hatch.

Apparently thinking that he delayed my plans and I couldn't possibly have a pool, he goes nexus first. Meanwhile, I crank out nothing but lings at home. The first 6 arrive and discover GATEWAY FIRST at the wall with a probe blocking, and the forge on the way; my 6 lings (and their 2 backup buddies that come shortly after) kill it before it finishes, then go to work on the gateway. He gets a zealot out on the wrong side of his wall, tries to bring it out to attack, but goes too far and I get a surround. The probes he pulled are useless as my lings can just block the choke, and he either doesn't know mineral walking or didn't think to try it. Gateway goes down.

He runs his probes away, and seeing nowhere else to go he leaves the game. I quickly go to message him from the menu only to be told that he is no longer online. Dat SC2 ragequit.

Protosses, man. Game is hard.

so how do you beat carriers as zerg? don't tell me viper, it doesn't work. I've tried fast lurker with nydus but it feels like a gimmicky way to win.

Twitch chat claims it's easy. Just anticipate the mass carrier and have 130 supply of 3/3 Corruptors waiting.

Also, have 10 Vipers and 80 drones so you can remax on more corruptors after your first 65 die.

And no, don't bother doing the math on supply requirements for everything above. It totally works. Just ask any Gold zerg from Twitch.

Yeah, definitely. I watched the B4 vs. Flash VOD and I would never have guessed it was a throw, just looked like sloppy/bad play from B4 (losing 21 drones to an early marine drop + hellion runby on King Sejong), aka typical Prime stuff.
