In big news, MsSpyte joined Root and is now living at their team house. The post on TL about it says their first goal is to get her GM, would be pretty legit if that happened.

She's been high masters for awhile, works very hard and puts in the hours to improve, and is now living with high level players that can help her do that even more. I think it will happen.

How can a random masters player be sponsored?

I would have thought you would have to be capable of high (top 75) gm on a given server.

She's a good pick up for pure attention reasons because all the degen goofyballers will constantly watch her stream. if she gets GM she will get a tonne of viewers on stream, like several thousand.

She's a really popular streamer; associating the Root brand with her is a win for them, and obviously getting to live in a team house is a win for her. Streaming popularity can get you places, Tempo is foreverdiamond and he was on Infinity Seven.

I actually haven't watched her stream in a long time. I hope she succeeds though.

Like who watches these streams and why? If they are attractive so what? You are watching them play and they aren't as good as pros.

Way more viewers than HyuN, flick between the streams, the difference is holy ****....

i don't know if the other streaming zergs just take it easy on stream but hyun seems wayyyy faster than them (even jaedong)

Karak beat her once, maybe twice, but she also was getting better the whole time and I think cleaned him up the last time they played.

In addition to being attractive (I won't pretend that doesn't make a difference), spyte also interacts with her stream, shows off her personality, and plays good music. Watching Korean pros stream usually involves no webcam and crappy ballads in Korean.

There are intangibles involved too. I don't post about every cute girl I see streaming SC2, but one of them who I watch (bsball knows) basically never gets above 30 viewers. She's diamond Z, plays good music, idk why people don't watch her. Guitarcheese is one of the best Zergs in NA, is very funny, gives good commentary, plays good music, and also doesn't get viewers. It's hard to figure out the exact reasons people choose for watching some streams over others. But, it isn't difficult to look at Spyte's stream and see why people want to watch.

I just don't get who cares about any of that stuff. Like a girl interacts with viewers, plays decent music, and is attractive? Yeah but she's still only a masters player and we are watching her play so who gives a ****? I'd rather watch a top korean on mute all day long. Not like she is an entertainer like a Destiny, or Sing-Sing or Notail in Dota.

It's not just a female thing either. Like I don't get who the **** watches Avilo and why?

Well, Avilo is one of the most annoying people on the planet, so that's a mystery to all of us.

But I think if you just watch streams for skill and care about nothing else that puts you in the minority of Twitch viewers.

I watch for two reasons.

1. Skill and to learn from what I see.
2. Entertainment, like when I watch Sing-sing stream it's hilarious. Or even Destiny in SC2 I suppose is the closest example.

3. Tits?

Like I don't get it, Spyte doesn't fall into 1 or 2. Nor does Avilo. Obviously people think she does fall into 2 but I don't get why.

Avilo is definitely a 2, to ******s who for some reason find his shtick palatable.

But I mean, half the male streamers I follow also do not fit into 1 or 2 (or obviously 3), but I still enjoy their streams. Maybe it's that I feel like I can also learn from players who are at my skill level or slightly better and I don't really have much to learn from watching what Hyun does because he's playing in a completely different world from me?

Which male streamers do you watch out of interest?

Well I think you do if you watch carefully, you are not trying to watch to copy someone, you are watching to pick up stuff, like how did they scout, how did they react to what they saw etc. Also you can pick up little mechanical things and even some cool build orders, or how to beat X composition etc. I learned a lot from watching Stephano stream and Jaedong for example, even though as you say they are on a different planet and have 400APM.

Streamers who offer excellent commentary but are of a worse level are obviously also good. but I have never watched Ms. Spyte and heard her offering useful commentary, useful enough to be worth watching. I used to watch a guy called jEcho who was a GM/on a pro team but not all that great because his commentary was stellar.

I've never heard of any of those streamers goofy.

Shockingly, different people have different reasons for watching one stream over another. Honestly, I can't even articulate why I watch some of the streams I do. I just like watching some people over others. I'd rather watch Petraeus stream over most other Zergs that are more popular/better. Nony is also worth a watch to me.
