Starcraft 2 (GAME IS NOW FREE!) - Page 734 - Video Games

Can someone teach me how to zerg?

I've lost two ZvZs tonight in exactly the same fashion:
- opponent goes for mass ling all in
- I get 4 queens, wall off and spine, hold with flying colors
- he has mass lings out on the map, takes a fast 3rd, I can't do anything about it or take my own third cause his lings have map control, he techs up to mutas and has a way better economy than me on 3 bases and wins

What do I do in this spot?

weak wrists tho

Go for the 2 base roach timing before mutas pop to do economical damage, drop a spore in each base when mutas are out. Take a 3rd base while he's occupied with your attack and also drop down the hydra den.

If it was a mass ling all in then he can't get muta's anytime soon. Your muta's will be out way faster. Your econ will be better despite 2 base, a few banes and you can take the third as well.

i heard this on one of the starcraft podcasts i listen to- apparently, soulkey is the only korean player of note that has never lost to a foreigner in an official match

i guess he doesn't hasn't played a ton of foreign tournaments, but still, lol

You'll be waiting awhile. I played terribly in the two games where this happened already so there's no useful feedback to be gained from them, but a large function of that was having no idea what I'm supposed to be doing in response.

You don't seem to know what you did wrong given your responses here so its not like it's a case of "it doesn't matter I already analysed it and know exactly what went wrong so I don't need your advice". Sounds like it's the opposite.

Is there any Starcraft lore about what exactly a psy storm is? I feel like storms should end if the HT that casted it dies similar to nueral ending if the Infestor dies and the Thor's spell ending if the Thor is killed. The way it's set up is that the HT isn't casting the spell. He more or less releases an amount of damage into the game instantly. That's like the Thor's special being him shooting all of his missiles instantly at different heights and having them do damage over time whether he's dead or alive. Buff Thor or nerf HT imo.

Buff Infestor, too. Make nueral parasite a small broodling that goes into the brain and is in control for however long instead of a physical connection from the Infestor to the enemy.

It's possible they're underused, but gamboneee is wayyy underestimating how hard it is to get a fungal off on bio kiting ultras. The effective range of fungal vs units running away from the infestor is much, much smaller than it was in WoL.

i dont see why brood lords aren't still as common tho. fungal still stops marines from running under them, vikings are pretty tough to split any better than ever and its not like fungal travels slowly now. they might not be as great in the midgame, but i definitely think they are under utilized and could make a resurgence at some point

- speed medivacs means Terran punishes your slow-ass army even harder than before
- fungal no longer has bonus dmg vs armored so you can't fungal down vikings as easily
- additionally, infested terrans are basically useless in lategame situations so tossing them in to help shoot down air units doesn't help
- thor heavy payload was added to be more effective vs BLs
- mass seeker missiles is more viable since the upgrade was removed (was late 2012 when that changed happened but still helps, esp with infestors being harder to use effectively)

It's not like Zergs just stopped using the single most effective unit composition from WoL cause they felt bad.
