I think it was expected that teams in Korea would run into trouble, after Kespa dropped BW. Think about it, how many tournaments are in Korea and how many players there are, especially after Kespa joined in.

What this will propably mean:
1) More Koreans (like Innovation) join foreign teams,
2) Foreign player quality improves
3) ????
4) Profit

If foreign teams getting better talent + adding more to the foreign scene was a trend though, I feel like we should see foreign tournaments growing, not shrinking.

European tournaments are growing. Shame that in NA that is not the case (NASL and MLG, right?) Hopefully Red Bull can do something.

Yeah, hopefully. All their tournaments are invitationals though which is kind of a bummer.

I guess Euro tournaments are "growing" to the extent that WCS EU didn't murder Dreamhack/IEM/HSC the way that WCS NA murdered MLG/NASL? I can't really think of any "new" tournaments, but then again WCS EU is new so it's good that it didn't detract from existing tournaments.

lol, game I just played against a ranked platinum Protoss:

I scout no expansion and poke my ovie in on Polar Night, see four gates, am like "lol" and build a couple spines and nothing but lings (have like 21 drones), hold it easily. He tries to expand behind it and I kill lots of stalkers and sentries but am also saturating + taking a 3rd behind so I don't commit too heavily and let his expansion get up. I put lings around to make sure I'll know if he takes a 3rd. I type in chat "y u do that build? gateway expand so good " and he doesn't answer. (we glhf'd at the start and he asked me what 2p2 is fwiw, seemed friendly)

Anyway, I'm moseying along teching up when all of a sudden I hear the swipe of DTs in my main. Oops. I had spines + spores at my natural so he must have gotten a warp prism in. I lose my lair, spire, and spawning pool, and am like oh **** what now, my infestation pit is still alive so I'm like **** it and build a bunch of swarm hosts. They finish right as he sends a billion stalkers across the map, he only has 1/1 though and I'm on at least 1/1 maybe 2/2, and my swarm hosts + lots of lings kill off his whole army. I'm re-expanding behind this and taking the protected 4th, he's still on 2 bases, so I'm getting my tech back and feeling pretty good about my position. Eventually I send some mutas down to harass his 3rd when he eventually takes it and spot...a carrier?!? lolwut! There's only one so I kill it with mutas but turn back when stalkers show up. I come back with lings + ultras + mutas, kill his 3rd, kill another lone carrier as it flies back to his natural. He has a lone stalker to defend at the natural (it's late enough that without a 3rd he shouldn't have, like, any economy at all); I start to fly away, then he blinks the stalker towards my mutas like he's actually trying to still play this game, so I'm like "lol r u srs with this tryharding" (to myself, not in chat) and turn around and kill the stalker.

He types in chat "**** you" and leaves.

I only see WCS Eu as good thing, they did not affect Dreamhack, IEM, homestory cup at all, but to be fair IEM is global tournamet (Katowice only time IEM is at EU) and homestory cup is not excatly premier tournament. Dreamhack is going to Moscow, next year, hence I would say EU scene is growing. And we have Asus ROG, maybe Iron Squid?

WCS gave exposure to EU players that necesarily would not be given in Dreamhacks and such, the wall of lag definately helps. Obviously koreans are strong, but EU is improving, imo.

i think some contraction as inevitable tbh. sc2 just grew way too quickly. the first mlg w/ sc2 was raleigh and 1st prize was $2500. this was in august 2010. by november 2011 in providence, leenock won $50000 for 1st.

I disagree. SC2 will not die. There are no viable alternatives. All that will happen is the scene will continue to reduce until it flatlines which will probably be soon. So basically just get used to a smaller scene, smaller community, less big tournaments. It's here to stay though.

Remember Korea is the biggest thing that's changing here. They have never taken to SC2 particularly. Worldwide its still big. Get used to being #3 esport though.

honestly i think the whole esports scene in general could grow if the different games/leagues all got together to work **** out. WCS korea finals was exactly the same time as TI3. like wtf? the superbowl and the world series are not on the same day and its not a coincidence that it never ever happens.

Funny thing is that only overlapping was with WCS NA, and while there was overlapping, the viewing numbers were good.

I for one don`t give a **** about LoL. They might have lost like 10% of the viewers or something.

Gold adventures-Went 9-1, including one lol game vs a Silver where I trolled him.

The one loss was against a guy who is usually Diamond so in the same situation as me. He went Battlecruiser raven thor, I went swarm host hydra, viper, queen with static defense. My control let me down and he eventually won one big battle .
