depends what else they drop with. if its like 3 tanks and 4 marines, just load up in your medivacs and drop on the tanks. if its like half an army then you're gonna lose a lot. gotta get your tanks in a good spot and not stim your marines in little chokes made from your buildings. if they do it more than once in a game, def make a lot of turrets (or do that anyway if you have like 500 mins free)

i didnt have medivacs yet. it was like, he had a handful of marines, 2 tanks, nothing else. early game.

do i just grab all my scvs and all my army and brute force it out or what

yeah then prob best to have scvs attack the tanks and target fire them down

lost my first unlosable game this morning vT. had no where near enough lings and accidentally had half my army at home during a big push. havent played many bio mines yet tho so im not surprised/mad.

worst creep spread ever, and i kinda got tunnel vision once i got ultras and should have just mass muta vs an absurdly marauder heavy army. on a good note i had upgrades/bane speed up quite early, altho i did notice that when i "started" +2 carapace i didnt have enough gas at the time so i ended up at 2/1 - 3/2 for a bit.

still have a lot of trouble keeping overlords/army separate once they rally out. ctrl+click eggs to separate them from unused larvae? o well, didnt even wanna get to plat this quick as i clearly need more practice

Yeah. Say you want to make 2 overlords and 4 roaches (assuming 4 is hotkey for hatches). If you do this:

then you have 6 eggs that will be selected, which include 2 overlords, and you don't want that. Instead do...

4svv4srrrr

Now you'll only have 4 eggs selected (the roaches you just made).

The other way you can run into problems is if you accidentally add all larvae to your control group (this happens to me sometimes) - then whatever units wind up being produced from those larvae (like overlords) will be in your control group later on. If that happens, you hold ctrl+shift and then click one of the larvae in the unit view - that will remove all units of that type (in this case, larvae) from your selection. Then hit ctrl+1 to re-set your group, minus the larvae.

I'm starting to think having a few swarm hosts is realllly good against biomine. I've been struggling so hard against it in general but having a few swarm hosts constantly poking at the mines/bio has been really annoying for Terrans in the games I've tried it and I think I've won all the games where I've done it.

Played a hilarious game on Frost where my opponent tries biomine, doesn't do any damage, he takes 3 bases but I do a really good job of keeping him from taking a 4th with muta harass/burrowed lings/etc. He turtles up, I do my usual thing when I'm way ahead which is to slow down to 20apm and build up a massive bank for no particular reason. He tries to take a 4th several times, never works.

More time passes and he comes out of his base with like 14 battlecruisers and a handful of vikings/ravens. I send my army over to his base since I need to lose some units to remax on corruptors/infestors but there's nothing left to kill them, lol. I attack my own ultralisks and manually detonate my banes to free up supply, build lots of corruptors, and go around the map killing his buildings while getting as much army as I possibly can before engaging his.

And then it turns out he's a tard and I can just kill off all his buildings before he's even close to taking mine out, and he doesn't come back to try to defend his last building until it's too late. LOL. Never even had to fight him.

I'm liking Frost in general for macro games, but kind of hating it in the early game where your third is so far away and unprotected.

GSTL season 2 announced: MVP, IM, and Prime are not participating

Format is changing too - one all-kill round, one Proleague round, then playoffs. Grand finals will be 3 matches - an all-kill match and a Proleague match, if it's tied 1-1 then there's an ace match (unclear if it's 1 game for all the marbles or ace vs ace in a best of series).

IM/Prime/MVP are out of ESF, Soul (formerly STX Soul) joins

GSTL rosters announced - Ax-Acer adds Innovation and will probably win the league easily, Azubu recently had Genius/San/Violet all leave so they're down to BboongBboong, Symbol, Supernova, and scrubs (though my boy Center somehow wound up there, maybe he'll save them), Soul lost Mini (and obviously Innovation) and picked up Ssanaee from NSH but Dear/Trap/Hyvaa isn't a terrible core I guess.

I like the GSTL format changes but it isn't going to be a terribly exciting competition when it's just Ax-Acer, FXO, StarTale, Azubu, and the ghost of STX Soul.

And as more of a long-term thing, I think SC2 is definitely dying. I'm a pretty big fan of tournaments and stuff with a lot of disposable income but I'm really not sure if I'm going to continue to buy yearly GSL tickets with how often shenanigans are changing the whole system around (first WCS, now this) and I'm sure the TL crowd that hates on everything Gom does and is probably crying for refunds right now is really going to hurt them financially next year.

So, that's too bad.

On the upside, say SC2 is like basically dead within the next year before LotV comes out - does that force Blizzard to do something drastic, like make it into a f2p model to try to get people to come back to it? That could shake things up.

I mean, "dying" is relative, it just means the growth rate of super amazing pros is becoming negative instead of positive (i.e. as really good players leave the SC2 scene, a fewer amount of new really good players will rise up to replace them), and there will be fewer big tournaments (IPL died, MLG is scaling back its SC2 stuff massively, Dreamhack will prob have smaller prize pools and fewer really good Koreans and be even more of a Eurofest).

It will be interesting when Blizz announces the 2013 WCS schedule/format to see what changes; that will probably be very indicative of where they think the future is going with SC2.
