Msspyte is way cuter than kaitlyn. I agree it doesn't take much to be a female gamer to make a living off streaming. There was a female lol team that lasted like 2 weeks and they managed to each get 400-500 viewers regularly while being no where near top tier (like mid masters equivalent). I'm sure it's harder with SC2 but it's definitely doable if you market yourself correctly. Also nerds regularly donate absurd $$ for stream mod privileges and subscribe for viewer games and other crap which helps.

The expensive stuff is that it has a 17" screen and SSD primary drive, plus typical gaming specs (i7, 12gb of fast-ish ram, 2gb ATI 6990m video card). Got it ~1.5 years ago.

I had that exact eclipse keyboard all through college... Pretty good feel to it. Would've lasted longer if it wasn't during my 'smash **** when get stacked' phase.

Using Blackwidow now and it's much better for gaming, but obv it's twice the price.

The problem with the black widow is that it uses ****ty blue switches. (Unless you have the one with brown switches, in which case wp)

Yeah, that looks nice. I rly want one that "clicks" hope that makes sense. GF has a razer that has flat chicklet like keys, which is nicer than mine, but not the clicky kind.

Had a friend who has a black widow ultimate, which is ****ing awesome but I assume expensive(?) recommend that to me. And I like the blue back lights on it.

So define ****ty blue switches? And replacement idea?

What are 'switches' and why are they classified by color name?

Yeah the blackwidow has cherry mx blue's which are extremely loud and 'clicky'. Sometime's it's annoyingly loud since the sound transmits at almost voice-through-the-mic volume... Other times it's extremely badass as you get in the apm zone and let out a crescendo of mechanical doom.

The saitek isn't a mechanical keyboard, but like I said has a pretty good feel, and is light weight. It has a clicky sound but is significantly less audible than the blackwidow (with the exception of the blackwidow stealth, which I haven't used).

if you want clicky keys you want blue switches

Any mechanical keyboard will be "clicky" in the sense that they are talking about.

Tactility is almost a bad thing in gaming though. Since you are going to be pushing down all the way anyway, you don't really need that bump that the blue switches have. It can slow you down/cause double tapping since you won't be used to releasing so high.

Personally I find black/red usable, but I prefer brown. It's somewhere between black and blue. It's not as tactile/clicky as blue and it's not as mushy as black.

This is my keyboard. Steelseries has some good ones, but their key layouts are pretty awful. I hate oversized enter and small backspace keys. The blackwidow silent one has brown switches and the regular one has blue switches. The main das one is blue.

I would never go back to a non-mechanical keyboard now.

I think Filco is a pretty good brand too, but a bit more pricey. Rosewill's are the Toyota to Filco's Lexus as far as I know. Same manufacturer? just more cost efficient.

Looking at those diagrams I think I'd want to kill myself if I had to write code using black or red switches.

Finally, an input peripheral goofy can't tolerate! Turns out it's high-end mechanical gaming keyboards.

That's another reason I'm glad I have blue switches - after you turn the game off they are very accurate as far as typing/coding goes. You definitely know when you pressed a key and how many times it's been pressed.

The whole thing comes down to personal preference, I guess. But yeah mechanical keyboards just feel so much more crisp, I'd never go back.

Goofy, we have a keyboard at work for one of our instruments that has a trackball. You'd love it. Gonna get a pic if I can later.

US might be different than Europe, but here putting off training to be a doctor is not such a big deal. Not like you have to go after you finish school and that's your only opportunity.

Might have to run to best buy to get my hands on some keyboards, and then obv ask her to order it offline. But I think I'd be happy with anything that clicks really.

Def excited to get a mechanical keyboard.

I have been fooling around with a regular keyboard, a logitech solar keyboard (similar to a laptop keyboard) and my mechanical keyboard. I type ~10-15 wpm faster with the mechanical keyboard and with much greater accuracy. It's definitely statistically significant.

If true that's kinda amazing.

My test was 3 different random typing tests each lol.

Basically the regular keyboard is just slower but still accurate. I made a ton of mistakes with solar keyboard. And I was able to maintain about 115 wpm with 99% accuracy with the mechanical keyboard.

I'll test this out. 131wpm here (Aesop's Fables, 1 minute, no errors) on normal cheap Dell keyboard at work.
