take only a small group (not your whole army) and focus the thing you want to kill. in sc2, over microing your army can be detrimental because the AI is actually quite good

Since I've done my share of complaining about how awful I am at Toss, here is a game where I play okay and win PvT: http://drop.sc/266041

I scouted 2 raxes and gas, so I went 3 gate expand to be sooper safe, held off an early rush with stim, he decided to doom drop and took out my 2nd nexus but that engagement went pretty poorly for him otherwise (I got off decent FFs! yay me!), and then decided to engage a bunch of colossi through a chokepoint.

On the downside, I still struggle with getting supply blocked sometimes (your supply can shoot up so fast with Toss, it's harder to prepare when supply isn't as easy as hitting the "v" key once for every 4 times you hit "r"), and I let him back into the game a little - like, despite taking an early lead and having my expansion up way faster than his, he eventually closed the supply gap. I guess I should take a faster 3rd, and even a 4th? I'm still really bad (with all races) at knowing when to expand, I always feel unsure of how I can know whether or not I can defend it if attacked. My composition was way better than his, but it's possible the game could have turned out differently if he didn't engage in such poor spots.

I welcome any thoughts!

7.30 When you see his army composition, you warpin more stalkers I wouldve warped in at least one more zealot, also you didnt use guardian shield and in the end you forgot to forefield behind him so he cant retreat. Later on again, you don`t warpin zealots at all, they are super important as they eat the dmg.
Your robo is way too late, gate 4-6 are late.

Right after that engagment I wouldve prolly decided to go for a 6 gate Robo bust.

Why do you turn around when you kill his army off and see that he has no vikings? There is a HUGE kill window. You give him time building vikings.

So overall:

- Guardianshield was never used, it`s so ****in important its +2 Armor, so his marines will do 33% less dmg!
- You never really had Zealots, normally when you lose all your zealots against terran, you get the **** out of there because the rest of your army is stomped really quickly.
- If you would`ve warped in Zealots you could`ve easily added hightemplars and Storm.
- Get more observers to see his army movements.
- Don`t sit in your base all the time, you had a lot of killtimeings.
- The canons won`t really help you. Get blink and leave a couple stalkers in your base, later HTs.
- Thats too much collosi, HTs!

Why zealots? Can't T kite against them super easily?

Good suggestion w/ FFing behind, that didn't even occur to me. And guardian shield. And HTs. Too much stuff to remember when playing Toss, with Terran I just hit 1 T A click!

Why too many colossi (or do you just think HTs would have been better)? I had way more than he could take out with his viking force and they did serious work in the last engagement.

wrt cannons - they won't make a drop turn around? That's one of my bigger concerns PvT, that my army isn't that mobile and when I take a 3rd I'm really vulnerable to being dropped.

Just won two PvZs in a row (I guess this is no longer my worst matchup! wheee) where my opponent built excessive mutas, I make a ****ty defense by warping in stalkers to kind of fight them off but take a lot of losses in the process, and then I'm like "well **** it, guess you can't have much else at home" and just march across the map and win.

I think that's basically the best kind of game, where your opponent tries something fancy and you're just like "LOL U" and take the game with superior numbers.

Well you should get charge and forcefield behind the terran army, also because you warpin zealots you can warpin more stuff like hightemplars and get storm. You can be fine with mass stalker but well it really depends on the game, imo in like 95% of the games massstalker is wrong. Im drunk sry for the ****ty english

You normally don`t get mass collosi you get HTs for storm too, Collosi pretty much hardcounter ghost because of their range. The canons wont really make a drop turn around. A drop without medivacenergy(HT + Feedback) isnt scary at all, zealots easily clean that up. Thats why PvT you oftentimes go blink before charge, so you can defend against drops(escpecially on these maps(Antiga Daybreak etc.) .

You have to time it so that they are one after the other. They don't stack.

It's been a long and dark road, a path that saw me hit as low as ~17th in my division, but we have regained our former glory:



Division rankings seem kinda meaningless though. Like, my MMR is clearly lower than it was the last time I was 1st in my division, when most of my games were against platinums; right now I'm mostly playing middling golds, with the occasion high silver or low platinum.
