Zerg needs to have a way to set a rally point separate for overlords vs anything else like they do for workers.

I usually do 1/1/1 all-in TvP, but in my most recent game my gas was stolen so I decided to do the old school 3 rax all-in. It was very successful and my opponent got angry. At the end of the game he started complaining about how Terran is broken and that they are unscoutable. I decided to have a quick chat with him:

he's got a point tho, terran is pretty broken. I just won a TvZ down 60 supply, and i dont have a ****ing clue what im doing.

if i were playing a platinum league opponent in a 3+ base game where i was down 50 supply in zvt, i'd probably win too. it wouldnt be because zerg is broken. it would be because my opponent sucks.

Rally the eggs? My favorite part about Zerg macro is the ability to hotkey and give eggs (move) commands before they're even produced.

But you can't ctrl-click an egg that is making an overlord and have that select only overlord eggs. It will select all the eggs in that area. So you would have to remember to only make overlords with this group of larva and then ctrl-click the eggs and set them to move somewhere and then go about making all the other units you need to make.

I don't think it's unfair or anything to add an overlord rally point for hatcheries. Terran and Protoss don't need to worry about producing supply from the same place as their units so would never need anything similar for their buildings. Make it O-click or something.

You can just make overlords with some larva and rally them, then reselect hatcheries and make other units with the rest (if you can, so many zergs get supply blocked so often) and press shift+1. For me it would be something like 3SVVV3SRRR vs. P (3 is my all hatch hotkey)

lol remember when i struggled vs protoss?

bout 2 months ago i sat down with a bunch of DRG replays, watched them over and over, copied his build orders and then practiced them. spent a few hours looking at his camera pov and then looking at how he reacted to scouting various things (extra gasses, stargates, sentry counts). prob was a total of a 5 hour investment or so. before that, my career winrate in zvp was like <40%.

since that time ive won over 80% of my zvps. only time i ever lose is if i **** up (supply blocks or fail to scout something) in a silly fashion OR face a gateway expand (cause i just have such little practice against it) OR face that stupid 3-4 immortal push out of FFE which i still cant figure out how to beat if they hit the right timing (if they're more than 30 seconds late they're gonna die).

I don't understand why you need to ctrl-click the eggs ever. They're already selected when you make the overlords. If you have all of your hatches on the same hotkey (say 4), then you hit 4SVVV + r-click to desired overlord location. If you put each hatch on its own hotkey, then you'd hit 4SV+r-click, 5SV+r-click, 6SV+r-click. I wouldn't say it'd be unfair to have a 3rd rally point, just superfluous. Would you want a rally point for queens too? (Actually, there are times I find myself wishing for that.) On a side note, I'd trade a lot to have the ability to hotkey in-production units from robos/rax/facts/etc.

or you could just do what i do and accept a handful of losses every week from having overlords floating in awful positions. i never rally them away. i actually end up getting ol speed earlier (or even when unnecessary cause i have a good slowverlord spread) in most games simply due to the fact that i dont rally them away.

i also dont really use army hotkeys and have the world's worst inject method, so dont look at me.

He means if you build a bunch of overlords and various other units together, there is no way to separate the overlord eggs from the other units eggs. So, if you just rally them all, you end up with random units with your overlords. Like, if you hit 4SVVVRRRRRRRRRZZZZZZ and rally, you have a bunch of roaches and lings chilling out somewhere that's not useful. It's also likely that you don't even know about them, which is also bad.

I do what Tham mentioned. I make overlords only, rally them away, then reselect the hatcheries and make whatever I need to make. It's a couple extra actions, but it's worth it to completely avoid losses like Karak described.

Fwiw, I also kinda want a queen rally point. It would make going mass queens much easier. No idea how you would work it, though, because I think 3 rally points from the same building is too many.
