When someone says no close spawns they generally mean close by ground. So if you were at the bottom/6 oclock base on Metal, there wouldn't be anyone at the 3 oclock base (close by ground). Close by air (6 oclock vs 9 oclock) is still possible.

I'm liking this map pool. Glad no close spawn Metal and ST are in the pool. The two maps I vetoed last season were removed so I might not have to use any vetoes this season.

They are saying that seasons are going to be 2 months from here on out, but take that with a grain of salt because I don't think a single season so far has actually gone as long as they wanted/announced.

its not in blizzard's best interest to make SC2 as hard as broodwar.

also, the reason BW is so much harder is that the mechanics of the game are different from the mechanics of SC2. you have to manually tell each worker to mine minerals after they're created. also you were only allowed to have 12 units in a single control group. the APM required is just insane.

Upgrades are slightly cheaper but it actually makes a big difference. We should see more double forges although it was already happening.

EMP nerf was definitely needed. It'll still be great against Protoss.

The upgrade changes kinda came out of left field. I really have no idea what it's going to do, though. Good double forge builds already have it built-in so they have enough resources for at least +2/+2, right? How many units are being cut for that?

EMP nerf is a start, but kinda like the NP change with the Infestor, it was a really weird place to start. The superior range and snipe are way bigger issues IMO. Also, I think that this change may be, once again, the worst they could have picked. I think either nerfing the damage again or increasing the energy cost (perhaps up to 125, since I don't think any unit should be able to "bank" more than one cast of a spell that powerful) is a much superior way to go. I mean, it's definitely going to help (a 25% reduction is pretty big), but I really don't see a whole lot changing right off the bat with this one. Although, maybe we get that "OMG NERF, DO NOT WANT" effect and ppl make less ghosts.

Edit: The EMP radius nerf is actually closer to a 50% area reduction, not a 25% reduction. I just saw some guy's math on TL, but it was wrong. Serves me right for insta-trusting some TLer's math skills lol.

Old EMP area = (2 x 2 x 3.14) = 12.56
New EMP area = (1.5 x 1.5 x 3.14) = 7.065

7.065/12.56 = .5625

New EMP area is about 56% the size of old.

I haven't been favored in a single 1v1 today since the new seeding. A couple have been even, but the overwhelming majority I've been the underdog.

It's just to create necessary separation within leagues. Otherwise points wouldn't correlate to mmr as much as they would like. Don't read into it too much, just keep playing games.
