This. Gimme ****ing mineral-only ranged probe slaughterers, not a bunch of gas heavy crap that I have to cut half an army to get out. And ward prisms need a buff.

And zerg doesn't have any harass options quite as good as terran but lings rape workers like nothing else and can do so very early, baneling drops are unstoppably good, and you have mutas (which are limited in effectiveness because you need so many). Infested terran are a ridiculously good late game harass option as well.

The harass is important though. The bane drop type army is made of paper and costs lots of gas. You can't let the toss reproduce his very hearty army quicker than you can remax to finish him off. It's not like zvt where all you really have to do is kill one big army and it's gg.

From what Browder has said it's very likely toss gets a harass unit in HOTS... should be interesting to see what they come up with.

Either that or warp prisms need a buff. Some guy FFE'd into blink and rushing out a warp prism vs me last night... except I nydus'd him. I'm sort of sad I didn't get to see what he was going to do with it.

I've seen and been in plenty of games(even one today) where I played a Z who went bling drops but didn't even try to drop on my mineral lines. Obv the harass is cool, but the main use is to drop on a grouped up death ball.

This feels backwards to me? Losing a big army is way worse for P than T right? P army gets better as it grows and is absolutely horrendous in small numbers. Killing one army vs T seems like just one of many battles to win.

Off the top of my head, a good harass unit is one of the following (ignoring cost for now):

1.) ranged w/ good/high dps
2.) quick w/ decent dps or quick w/ lower dps but deals splash
3.) quick, aerial, and attacks ground units

Blink stalkers don't have good dps, especially vs non-armored harvesters. I'd consider phoenix a decent harass unit, but their ability to attack ground units is limited by energy, (unlike the muta for example), thus limiting the amount of damage they can do. Dts are easily shut down by simple detection plus a few units since they have such low health and are melee (as opposed to the muta/banshee, which can fly in & out of a base easier than a dt can run in & out). Also, probes will have an easier time attempting to outrun slower, melee units (dts/chargelots), that have to actually catch them to attack, than they will vs mutas, banshees, or lings.

I never really considered roaches to be good harass units, but they are pretty quick & deal good dps (and their damage doesn't change vs harvesters).

Phoenix are not very good units. Graviton beam costs twice as much as it should, and so if you want to kill a decent number of workers with phoenix you have to render them useless as part of your army for a good while.

if i drop roaches in someone's base i really dont ever expect to kill a lot of harvesters. it's normally just a distraction. unless it's like a doom drop or something.
