on a whim i DT rushed a terran player on metalopolis and completely caught him off guard as he had just muled and had no turrets

so he lifts his OC into the air for 90 seconds, and still wreck havoc on his scvs to the point where he has no chance of winning, but he still lands his OC and gets a scan off which really tilted the **** out of me that terran can do that.

I assume you still won since your DT killed all of his scvs. Sounds like a brag.

To go from Plat to Diamond what are the requirements exactly? The system keeps pitting me vs Gold players so I don't know if that'll do it. I have a 50/50 ratio and i'm #17 on my ladder.. do I need to get #1?

you need around 1300 rating or better and you need to hover around that, its also random, if your mmr spikes up and they happen to make a new division theyll take you, otherwise youve just gotta wait, but yeah until youre playing diamonds and high plats consistently you wont get promoted.

No, you just need to start beating people with a higher MMR. You are probably losing to diamond players and beating platinum/gold players right now to give you the 50/50 win average.

You'll know you are going to move up soon when you start playing a bunch of diamond players ranked 50-100. Give it a week or two for the system to move you up once you start playing mostly low diamond players. Obviously you have to win more than you lose against them to move up.

It is pretty confusing because diamond /= high mmr necessarily. I've played against a bronze dude that cheesed for his first 6k games until he got all the portraits. He then started playing seriously and quickly got his MMR up to the point where he was playing me at 1800 diamond. He was still bronze when he played me and most likely won't move up leagues for a while since he played an ungodly amount of games (it takes more wins to move your avg MMR when you have a ton of games played).

like most said, you probably are losing to players that are diamond MMR (i don't know what this stands for, but i assume it's like ELO) if you have been at the top of platinum, it may take as little as 1 game to shoot you up to diamond if you're playing the right person.

MMR stands for match making rating or ranking.

If you are playing gold players it doesn't matter how high you are on your ladder, you're not going to get moved into diamond, because the system has basically figured out that you're as good as gold players.

When it starts having you play against diamond players and you are going 50/50 against them it will move you up into diamond after a while. I recently made another account to play on EU and haven't been moved up yet after going 23-6 and getting paired against ~2k diamond players most games. Hopefully will get moved up within another 10-15 games, but tbh it doesn't matter. If you're going 50-50 against your opponents then it's doing a pretty good job pairing you against equally skilled players.

After doing many things in the game that don't involve league 1v1:

Brag: Won all 5 1v1 placement matches. Dumped in platinum.
Beat: I'm probably not good enough to hold my own in platinum.
Variance: 3 matches with people who just got the game also doing their placement match, 1 cannon rush just because, and 1 exciting match with a talented opponent I'm more proud of than all the other 4 combined times ten.

its just to encourage you to play more.

back in wc3 your exp would decay and you could lose levels if you didnt play any games for x amount of days, but in sc2 they decided instead to reward you for being active by giving you a bonus pool of pts that accrue over time. the pool is capped so if you dont play for a long time you wasted all those bonus pts you could have been using in the meantime.
