the problem is while mutas may be more expensive, muta + ling is much cheaper than stalker + sentry + collosus, and zergs advantage lies in the ability to macro well and [re]build up an army quickly. they can mass up tons of lings no problem, all the while containing hard with whatever mutas they have... even if you destroy their entire ling force with your stalker/sentry/collossi army, its not that hard for zerg to remass lings/switch to building roaches
