I'm seeing people put together computers that can ONLY serve the purpose of running 6 instances of Crysis 2 at a time, or doing ultra high-end CAD and animation work without breaking a sweat.

Jack, that computer as it stands will get you well into 2014 and beyond. Don't waste money.

Edit: At least wait until the 570's are $80 instead of $350

Yeah, it's why I splurged. I'm not going dual or tri anything. I just bought a good mobo is all. I allllllmmooooooossstttt got the i7 970 but it's 1k alone

the 2500/2600 and k variants are amazing and will beat the 970 out performance wise

the 2500k is like <$300 so you crazy.

I can stream in hd. I also have 5 mbps upload which is a huge reason why. But I can stream with no performance issues. I think you should find out your upload speed though, it's going to be very important.

I can run ultra at about 35-40 fps. Not perfect, but playable. I wouldn't try to play/stream on ultra. I always play low just as matter of preference.

I'd look on amazon just for the hell of it because as a student there's free Amazon Prime and you can avoid paying sales tax. Tax+shipping on a new computer can run hundreds.

Lastly if it's anything like mine the fans are pretty damn loud. Something to consider if you don't have your own room or whatever.

I'm running

Intel Quad Core i7 CPU 2.67 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 896MB
1.5 TB Barracuda 7200 HD
6 GB DDR3-? RAM

I get 100+ FPS at the start, 70-80ish during most of the game, and it can drop down to 35 during max army battles. On ultra obv. Worth noting that my resolution is only 1600x900.

some guy just whined about T being OP and that my 4 unit push early (bout 5:30 mark) is "cheese" and he insisted that "it's cheese unless you kill probes"... wtf.

Also terran is overpowered, etc, etc

If you're in school, some schools have a deal with Microsoft for students to get win7 for cheap, like $30. You just need to have a .edu email and have your school on the "list".

Someone should really start a site that sells replays. You could compensate masters level players for sharing their ladder replays and then give access to them for a monthly fee or sell them in packs or something. I'm sick of how everything is on streams or youtube commentaries, because I like directing the camera and studying builds in as much detail as I want.

star2.org is really good. They even label the masters and the pro level replays separately so you can distinguish quickly.
