So you want something like BF3 ( PC version ) in a Star Wars environment?

Why not? Seems closer to the universe than tanking/healing does.

I just want gambling in game with kazaak (sp?) or poker. PVP is losing the very little enjoyment it had. I'm afraid I'll be unsubbing after this month for spring business, golf, etc. and may check back on it. The PVE is fun though.

Also, guys, I heard today that if you open your gear bags in a group of 4 you have a 60% chance to get something. Don't ask me for any more details because I have only ran a few warfronts in the last week. I just heard it from a buddy in vent.

This sounds like just an odd statistics quirk more than anything else.

For instance, if you have a 25% chance of "getting something" out of an individual bag, your chance of "getting something" actually increases to 70% if you were to open 4 at once.

This isn't because your chance of getting something goes up, it's just that your odds of NOT getting something 4 times in a row is about 30% (.75^4), which automatically makes your chances of walking away a winner to be around 70% for the session.

You mean the champion gear bags? I thought you could only have 1 at a time? How do you open a group of 4? Or do you mean just buy them and open them one after the other?

The levelling experience in this game is fantastic.

The end game is buggy as **** and poorly designed especially Ilum. Ilum is so awful it leaves me speechless.

Huttball is my fav thing about this game tho.

These are pretty much spot on.

The end-game content remains riddled with game-breaking bugs. They are clearly just treating those bugs as a low priority because only a certain percent of players are doing level 50 content so far - but it is bad enough to kill the game for you if you are in that group of players.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I meant grouped up with 3 other people. There's probably a thread on it somewhere.

Benholio: Yes, the champion and battlemaster bags

Not a huge fan of huttball, I like it though. I agree with everything else though. Ilum after you hit rank 60 is even more pointless. I have just logged on to do my dailies if at all the last week. I'm not a PVE dungeon guy really either though I think a lot of people like them.

Sounds more like statistical cripples talking rubbish to me.

I don't understand how a bug like that could arise, or how anyone can have a sample size big enough to test it to bang on 60%.

To those that say I'm just burned out on WoW, you're right. Which is why I bought this game: to not play WoW. Imagine my surprise! ><
Ive heard the jedi stories are very zzzzzzz.

Did you even make it off of the 1st world? The game doesnt really open up till you get your ship. Even then still a little linear because they really only give you the illusion of choices as far as traveling to other planets, but the 1st world is really just a turtorial.

Ive never played wow so I dont know, but everyone who is in my guild has played wow for years and they all seem to be loving this game right now.

Im a 50 jug and I would say the game is worth a play through for the story alone, but if its not your thing its not your thing.

The leveling definitely remains linear throughout the game. You have the option of doing pvp, instance running, spaceship combat missions, etc, but the quest/normal pve leveling is very linear.

I'm not a story guy, but I found it to be enjoyable by liberally mixing in those other activities while leveling. I have friends who aren't into pvp and didn't have groups to run instances with and they got very burned out on the linear leveling grind.

Of course, one of my coworkers has like, 5 or 6 characters past level 30 because he loves the stories so much.

Yes, but you might want to try the marketplace if you are openly selling something.

gonna give this game a try... waiting now on the extremely beefy download.

anything I should know going in? are any classes especially op in pve or pvp? any suggestions for picking a class based on other factors?

pick a class based on fun. Chose which story and rp seems most interesting to you.

a bit easier said than done, not like Im going to be able to play all 8 (?) and then make any kind of informed decision; more likely Ill roll one early and stick with it to endgame...

any thoughts on Consulars? I generally like kiting gameplay, and theyre the healer class (right?) so I assume theyll be in demand for groups...

basically everyone gets a pet and they are rather useful in combat, so I don't know how well asian-mmo style kiting would work.

Imperial Agents and Smugglers are not very useful for PVE dps at the higher levels from what I have seen. They are both very nice for PVP. They are kinda nerfed at the moment. Lots of people complaining no SWTOR forums cause theres like 50+ dev posts in every other classes, but only 3 total for smuggler/IA.

I haven't really liked any of the healer classes, but I suppose if that floats your boat whatever. The Merc healer has some pretty nice burst heals but its not been fun imo. I have heard similar about the burst heals for Ops/Smuggler healers.

Mercenaries are super zzzzz as a DPS class (you shot your missile at them to build up combo points then shoot a different missile as a finisher..). There is a DPS spec for them that has an autoattack snare, which I assume is probably pretty baller in PVP but not tried it out myself.

Jedi guardians are pretty decent as a tank class, but PVE and be pretty boring as your DPS is pretty terrible. The tank spec has like 3 1minute cooldowns that all make you pretty hard to kill unless there are 5+ people dpsing you down. Pretty nice in pvp for sure.

All of the Jedis are pretty decent in PVP, espesh in huttball because of their jumps.

Not tried any of the Jedi dps classes/specs yet, but I assume the jedi guardian/sith juggernaut DPS specs are probably a little weaker than rogue/mage classes, almost better as an off-tank as I understand.

Me (29 concealment ops) and a 34 deception sith assassin spec took down a lvl 32 4 person heroic mission by ourselves, so I can only assume the sith assassin is also pretty good.
