yep, they're just working out some critical bugs. But I'm pretty sure the multiplayer portion will be released according to your registration number, so late pledgers might have to wait a few extra days before playing that.

it's out...I won't have time to play until the weekend

Can't wait for video. My computer is struggling so bad, but I'm still holding off on my "SCPC" as long as I can so the components drop a bit.

and includes the ability to fly the Aurora, 300i and Hornet. If you haven’t pledged for one of these ships, we’ll give you a loaner that is the closest in class to what you fly
Damn, I have an aurora and a retaliator. If i didn't own the damn aurora I think it'd give me a hornet. I want to try out both of course.

It's pretty good imo. Wasn't expecting the turrets on my Aurora to swivel but I got used to it and it helps with joystick aim. People are complaining the mouse controls are OP but I found it harder to follow and keep ships in your sights with it. Still needs some work obv but it's pretty polished for an alpha.

Haven't tried it yet but what seems to be the consensus so far? PC Gamer had a blip about it in their weekly high and lows and mentioned it as a low. Author said he can't yet see a vision on how it's all going to come together. He also admitted he hasn't played it yet.

That's all I've heard so far.

He reviewed an alpha release without playing it? I don't even...

If you play the dfm, you can see all the potential it has. It's buggy, only has placeholder sound effects, and controls are unintuitive and messy, but the gameplay already has incredible depth with the way they've implemented the flight model. Being able to turn off automated assist functions like g-safe and switching into decoupled mode on the fly gives an advanced player a lot of extra control over his ship. Flying takes getting used to though, I'm still terrible at it.

It should be difficult to fly for sure.

Hmm, yeah. It's really hard to fly with a joystick right now. It probably doesn't help that I'm playing in a small window on low settings to run the game. I expect it will only get better as time goes on and if I had a better computer my experience might have been better. I figure there's no way the game comes out before Winter 2015 and I'd be fine with it taking another year if it means it is truly amazing.

I think the alpha for the PU will come out early 2015, like spring. The actual game release though, maybe 2016, or before christmas 2015 if they're lucky.

But for backers, PU beta is practically the full game. Once they get major bugs and exploits fixed, they won't do any more wipes during the beta, so you can actually work on progression as if the game was released already.

I couldn't wait for some space shooting, so I just picked up Privateer 2 for $3 on GOG.

This is the only Wing Commander (although I don't know if it even qualifies) game I never played and I bought it off gog like a year ago and absolutely could not get into it.

Yeah the version seems a little jacked up. Audio is garbled enough that it's hard to understand, and the nice FMV scenes have lines through them :\

Contemplating getting BGII for my nostalgia kick instead.

There's an HD patch at wcnews.com that fixes some of the issues I believe

Spent a lot of time with privateer 2. Great game for the time.

Would again recommend Freespace 2 for your space shooting fix.

What's the ballpark target release for this now? I haven't been following the day to day since kickstarter backing. 1 more year? 2?

Sometime 2015 is what I see. Getting ready to order my PC and buy a ship to try out the modules that have been released. Any suggestions on a nice flying stick?

I have a t16000m which is supposedly really precise for a cheaper stick (it's around $50).

Are you using it to play SC?

According to the forums the t1600m is the best budget stick for SC. Logitech is the most used (If you want to borrow macro setups or whatever I guess you'd find more for logitech.) Warthog is the best if you have $400+ to spend.

I just use a mouse/keyboard with Voice Attack for power/shield management.
