We just use the Switch thread for all things Nintendo - https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/7...witch-1597861/

But yeah, I modded mine and love it now.

Scalpers were getting screwed in Australia, it was easily available here for a while and ebay is just flooded with consoles that aren't selling for much more than RRP.

Is the starfox 2 game fun? I liked the original even as choppy as it was on occasion.

Just picked up one from the Target restock this morning. Super stoked. Trying to figure out what to play with my son first when I get home.

Suggestions for modding? Hackshi is safe? I assume I can restore this thing if I **** something up?

I don’t think you can restore a bricked one

Also, from the little ive read, you have to be more proficient with computers and python to mod a snes classic than to build a raspberry pi, so anyone who mods one of these is a lunatic afaik

Wait wat? The Reddit makes it sound unbelievably simple. Download mod. Click link, connect mini, hit button, voila.

Was this luck or had they announced they were getting a restock?

There may be more than one way to mod it, but one I read about required you to modify the python source code and have to know a decent amount about how the hardware on the device works to make the mod work.

Unannounced. Saw it on the minisnes Reddit. It seems it's rolling out to all areas but hit in the NW this morning due to proximity to NOA.

Ah, I got it now. Yes if I were to mod it myself it would take fairly extensive knowledge, but the guy who released the mod tool did all the backwork and now it's a simple windows exe that does everything. Same guy who modded the nesclassic

Err, no. I’m saying one of the people released a mod and that mod requires programming and systems experience to implement.

Hakchi is very safe and easy to use. It takes mins to add games, there's a bunch of tutorials on youtube but here's everything you need to know - https://www.reddit.com/r/miniSNESmod...4p&sh=76782549

This is wrong, hakchi is plug and play and much easier than a pi. You don't need to know python, where did you read that lol? You click a button that says add games, pick the games and then click another button to add to the console.

EDIT:

This was from before the official SNES version of hakchi was released. People were just modding the NES version of hakchi to work with the SNES before cluster released an official version. Now that he has you just plug the console in, add the games and you're done. It takes under 5 mins to set up.

i am super-n00b when it comes to computers but even to me the hakchi moddings seems to be very easy. depending on the games, you can add 50+ ?
but if you go for chrono trigger and other mb-monsters you can "only" add 10 or so.

i didnt hakchi mine yet and i am a bit afraid that i will nuke it :/

@spimp13: what u mean by choppy? when starfox dropped ('92?) it was da booomb!!

also what about a "you need to add these games" list (3 titles/post)?

is there a way to really nuke your classic mini via hakchi or can you reset it after possibly effin up?

From what Iv'e read they cover their ass with the typical "Hacking can totally **** up the system, but its 99.999999% unlikely to happen." language on the website. I take that to mostly mean, that no, you wont brick the system. The first thing they tell you to do is back up the original factory kernel, so even something catastrophic with the software should be able to be restored. Since no actual hardware changes are made to the system at any point, I can't imagine how it would lead to problems.

Yeah it's extremely hard to brick, I don't think I've heard of anyone doing it while following using hakchi exclusively and not writing extra code.

The safest way to set it up and make sure all save slots work without crashing is to separate the games into pages or folders and limit the number of games per page/folder to 30.

One of the best things I've rediscovered playing this after years of current and next gen systems?

No motion sickness. Even with the mode 7 stuff, it just isn't there.

wait, you can only play pre installed games on this without hacking it? Why get this over just a raspberry pi?
