Starting a thread for this game because I love hearing about all the different deck combos and the stories about coming back from surviving an elite fight with 1 HP to bing the perfect relic for their deck and turn their trash into an unbeatable deck.

Just had a Defect run that was amazingly fun.

Replaced my starting relic and got inserter so every 2 turns I got a new orb slot. The VERY 1st card I picked up was a sunder that did the heavy lifting for me early. After barely surviving the map 1 flaming elite I picked up a consume which allowed me to channel my unused orb slots in higher focus that got through map 1.

Early in the 2nd map I managed to pick up both echo form and creative AI which is always fun. I then picked up the PERFECT relic for that combo with a bird faced urn so I healed 2 points for every power I played. Was taking beatings early in fights but farmed powers and frost orbs to heal back up.

Never thought I was going to have a chance in my 1st elite fight but it ended up being my most enjoyable run to date.

What are some crazy runs you guys have had?

Was some discussion iirc in the steam thread iirc. Really hope this comes out on switch soon, seems like the perfect tablet/switch game to play in bed.

Any tips on how to beat higher ascensions? I have failed to get past ascension 7 (normal enemies are tougher) like 4x with silent. I just take too much chip damage early on from normal enemies (and start 10% damaged) and wind up having to rest instead of upgrading cards, so I can never pass the build-check fights later on.

Silent is my fav char, my fav run was a shiv build where I got a few cloak and daggers/infinite blades a ton of amazing synergies with relics (ninja scroll, shuriken) and would "go off" with like ~10 shivs a turn. Also had envenome + snecko skull so every unblocked shiv would poison for 2. Really felt absurdly powerful and think i perfected the final boss.

I've also still never gotten an ironclad defensive run going with maxing block and body slam, all my wins are with strength + whirlwind/heavy blade

I’d be interested in whatever mods people are playing with.

I use:

Infinite Spire
Replay The Spire
Slimebound
Snecko Mod
The Disciple
The Witch

BaseMod & StSLib are mods required to run the other mods. Everything is easily found in the Steam Workshop.

I think that I'm finally starting to get bored with this game, but I did spend around 250 hours on it, so I'd say it was a pretty good investment I'm at ascension 20 with all characters, but haven't beated it yet, though game on a20 is pretty tedious, since you really need some perfect combos to even make it somewhat far in the run.

This also reverses the way you approach the game, normally you just pick good cards and hope some good synergies come along the way - at a20 you really need to take huge risks and hope to get that perfect synergy.

Re advice, I usually play pretty standard/normal builds, the only difference is how I play Defect, I really dislike orb builds (especially frost orb, since it's super slow/boring), so I I often trade of starting relic and usually push either power or 0-cost builds. Claw decks have a really bad reputation, but they can be extremely strong when played right (though they are autoloss vs heart, not so much vs time eater). So, yeah, just wanted to let you know that it's possible to play Defect completely different and have some success

Re fav classes, it used to be Silent, but at higher ascension he is my least favourite - he is so squishy, that you end up with essentially same deck everytime, because if you deviate from taking un-situational best cards, you will just get crushed. For example, cloak and dagger is simply a pick evey single time it is offered, other classes don't have so many common must-picks.

I've got one a20 ironclad win. Working on getting the others up there. On a14 with silent and a11 with defect.

Silent is probably my best class, defect is easily my worst. I just take too many cards as defect.

The game has just been released on Android. The cards are a little small but not bad at all. Seems like a perfect game for a phone.

$10 on the Play store.

I noticed the game isn't searchable straight from the play store. Here's a direct link.

This game is awesome. Recently reached A19 on The Silent after many runs stuck at A18. Also on A19 w/ The Ironclad. A19 description "Bosses have more challenging movesets and abilities" is very intimidating tho, some of the bosses already feel like they just hit way too hard.

Just wait till you get to A20 and get to fight two bosses at the end of act 3 lol.

You will not convince me that the game isn't coded to weight the A3 boss appearance based on your deck makeup. Oh, you have 15 powers? It'd be a shame for the Awakened One to show up approximately every time.

More than 3 Shiv generators in that deck? Sup, let me introduce you to Time Eater.

I completed the A20 climb on the OG trio but haven't played much since the new girl came out, or that Act 4 thing. I honestly hated everything about completing the grind on The Silent. The other two were fun, but not The Silent. Though, I've only ever succeeded at killing The Transient with the Silent. I'm a sucker for the poison builds which is probably why I do so poorly with it.

yeah, Silent is an absolute nightmare on A20, it's actually the only hero I havent completed it with. He is so fragile that you absolutely have to take good value, non synergetic cards like quick slash or dash to be able to complete act1, but then your deck is cluttered and you can't really shift into an end game build.

Plus, I feel like silent is the only hero that doesnt have gamebreaking synergies, like branch + corruption on ironclad or mummified hand + creative AI on defect

Hmmm silent is prob the most pop-off'able champ of them all tbh (besides watcher obv). You have to elite dodge a bit in A1 but still.

I'm not sure why you feel dash is a bad card tho.

dash is a fantastic card (very near top value cards in the game), it just does not scale into late game on silent. And yeah, he can pop-off, but not if you are forced to take a ton of early game cards like dash.

Dunno, maybe Im just playing him wrong, I never read any guides or anything as I like to come up with builds myself - for example, as stated above, I play no-orb, 0-cost cards builds on Defect exclusively. Maybe I should do indeed do a bit of elite doding in a1, on highests ascencions I usually go for max elites in a1 to maximize my chances of hitting some strong relics, which might be a wrong approach with Silent

Well, yeah. Silent basically auto-loses to two of the Act 1 elites.
