Played 3 hours, not bad imo

Hopefully parrying isn't crucial in this game. I went through all the Dark Souls games and Bloodborne without doing it once lolol.

FML looks to be very important lol

Yes it certainly seems important

As someone who sword and boarded my way through the dark souls trio, this should be interesting.

The controls/interface/menus feel like standard ds though so it's quite intuitive imo

Jumping instead of rolling is going to take some getting used to though

I was worried I'd be good at this game but I'm really bad.

not gonna play this game in any near future for multiple reasons, but it's nice to know it seems to be good

by the way, anyone has any idea why do soulslike game all seem to strife away from RPG to action adventure genre? First we had Bloodborne, then new games like Ashen seem to follow, and now Sekiro. Do people really find stats tinkering that boring? It's kinda sad for me since them being (light) RPGs was the only reason I even got into soulslike games and I dont really have any interest in games outside that genre

I might play this game at some point but sweet Jesus do I want this console. Unfortunately very limited and only available in Belgium/Netherlands as a unique prize item.

I also prefer it with the RPG elements, but I think there's a bigger audience for action/adventure.

There are plenty of Souls like things in this game such as boss/map design and storytelling so I still enjoy it.

Struggling with the first "real" boss as expected, but it's totally on me. This is a good sign on the difficulty if I am struggling this much early on. It's going to make me actually improve on how I play lol.

Wow, the game just really opened up for me after wrapping up Ashina Outskirts. It looks to be way more open shortly after the first main boss. So many paths to choose from now.

Lots of Soulsbourne vets saying this is far harder, to the point of downright unfairness. True?

It's definitely harder for me, but not unfair. The early mini-bosses are extremely punishing. No sword and board and no summons means you cannot get by without mastering the fundamentals in this one, even in the early game.

If you did well with parrying in the souls games I don't think it will be too bad. If you were like me and never parried at all, then there will be a large learning curve. I still go a little gungo hack slash and am struggling, but I'm adjusting a little bit at a time. Im at the second main boss and he's whooping me so far. I'm sure I'll get him after 30-40 attempts lol.

I guess I'm not sure what's considered the 2nd main boss but it just feels like it is....the horse rider

I haven't found him yet. I'm still stuck on Lady Butterfly.

I know who you are talking about now. I'm at the path where it's either fight him or the horse dude. Which do I want to die at more lol?

I got lucky and got him in 2 tries.

Spoiler:
I took out the side enemies without alarming him first. I them snuck up behind him to do a stealth hit which takes him down to one red bar. After that I stunned him with the fire and spam slashed while he was against a wall. I hit the slash fast enough that he would block one, get hit one, block one, get hit one etc. I definitely got a little lucky.
