After downloading and playing with it for a while as well as watching tutorials, I still can't make it work.

Pwn what are your up/down max speeds?

-----

Fraps is a good choice for video recording. Very lightweight and easy to use.

isp claims 15 down/1 up. (megabits)

That should be good enough to stream. I have 1MB max upload and I have xplit set at 720p with the cap at 600kb and I can stream without lagging -- what settings have you tried?

You can stream 720p with 600kbps? Interesting.

Codec X.264, Quality 6, VBV max bitrate 1k, VBV buffer 2k.

Audio 11.025 khz 16 bit stereo, mp3, 16k bitrate.

10 fps/768x432

I just updated xsplit today for the first time in a while and it now has the option to just record to hard drive in flash format, so if ak can't get me streaming ezpz at least I can record that way

Note isp claims 15/1. Results from speedtest.net indicate 2.7/0.5 at the moment. ****ING USELESS ROGERS BULL****.

0.5 is rough -- you might be SOL there.

My audio settings are also all the way down -- why are you using 10fps? Just for testing?

I figured less frames would mean less data being uploaded-->less strain on my connection.

speedtest shows 12.7 down/0.6 up. consistency ftw.

So, I have 50-55 free days before I have to work again, completely free to spend hours per day on starcraft. Last season with not that many games I was low gold, haven't played my placement match yet this season but think I'm going to end up in gold or top silver depending on win/lose.
Going to spend these almost 8 weeks on playing a lot, aiming/hoping to end up in diamond. Hoping that's feasible, it's mostly about improving my mechanics.

If I can figure out how, which shouldn't be much of a problem, I will also stream basically all my ladder games on this channel. I'm European though so my afternoon sessions will probably be early for you Americans, but evening/night sessions should be watchable. Hopefully I can get some comments on that.

Do you guys think this is feasible?

Definitely feasible. Hard to imagine you wouldn't improve greatly over 8 weeks if you're putting in consistent hours.

So what's exactly wrong with your stream?

If it's just the stream looking choppy, your FPS needs to be set higher (I would imagine 10fps looks pretty bad). 30fps is pretty standard.

It causes my gameplay to lag when I stream. The stream itself seems ok.

slick, you should be able to do it with enough volume.

if you lower your bitrate, it will fix the gameplay lag, but your stream quality will suffer. i have a similiar upload to yours and i gave up trying to stream.

I had a lot of trouble streaming with xsplit, I was getting a really terrible bitrate (between like 20-100 kbit/s) and heavy choppiness in video and audio. I then tried FME 3.2 and VH SC instead and got things to work cleanly at 320p (500 kbit/s video, 220 kbit/s audio) as I only have like 1 meg of upload.

Tried to find out how to stream yesterday/today.
Got it to work using VHScrCap and FMLE, but it's running at only 15 fps even though I selected 30. It doesn't seem to be a bandwidth problem because it also shows the input fps that low, and my processor doesn't go over 40% roughly so that's not overloaded either.
Anyone that streams have any idea what could be the problem here?

I have tried both h264 and vp6, high and low bitrates, fps from 25 to 60, with our without auto-adjust and while some things make minor differences I can't get over 18 fps.

Laptop, Core i7 Q720, 8gb ram, 64bit windows 7, and a somewhat crappy video card, I think the equivalent of an ati radeon 4650.
On advice of a friend though I tried xsplit, which does both the capturing and streaming, and that seems to work much much better. It uses more cpu (up to 80-90%) but is really smooth and produces no stutter. And it seems a lot more intuitive to set up imo.
