You've really stepped up your trolling lately and to be honest, it's getting really old.

What does that have to do with you being a clown? Your trolling is really old and I know I'm not the only one who thinks so. Get a life.

Maybe I'd be more cool if I asked out a girl over an email. Not sure which I should use. Facebook? Gmail? Twitter? I'm sure the fact that she thinks I'm cute will justify my sorry excuse for being lame.

Seriously, I thought you were smarter than that.

How old are you? 20, 21, 22? You have a lot to learn. I'm just going to put you on ignore for awhile because I don't want to deal with your stupidity.

Alright, seriously:

Cueball - Someone posting a question like that in the LC thread is not a cardinal sin. IT's not a huge deal and isn't worth being so openly critical of someone for. In fact, I've always been of the opinion that discussion of just about anything is ok in the LC thread, although there may be better threads which I'll farm it to. Just answer their question and possibly suggest the beginner's thread next time. While you may disagree with the existence of certain threads or placement of content, that doesn't make whoever is behind the action a newb or stupid.

Italian - Holy ****ing ****. Relax bro. I mean yeah he was trolling you a little, but that was a pretty big overreaction. There's no need to ever to respond to someone like that or with personal attacks. If you have a problem with a user or think he is out of line, you can PM me or use the "notify moderator" feature. Genuine personal attacks, even in response to other personal attacks, are not acceptable.

All:

I feel very strongly about a forum like this being very newbie friendly. It really, really tilts the **** out of me if anyone is ever berated for asking a "dumb question" or putting something in an inappropriate place. I always thought forums which punished people for posting something in the wrong thread (assuming it was done innocently and reasonably) or in a slightly off-topic place are really silly and drive users away.

I also feel strongly about a lack of (real) froth. If we want to troll and joke and everyone is in on it, that's one thing, but just randomly slinging personal attacks can't be tolerated. I've seen too much of it lately. Perhaps I've fostered too much of an atmosphere like that somehow, but regardless, I can't let it happen anymore.

A moderator's job on 2+2 is different from most board because there are few set in stone rules. I think this is one of the things that makes 2+2 great. It provides a unique flavor to each subforum and allows mods to curtail rules appropriately to the subject of discussion on their boards. One of the most difficult things to deal with is "trolling." Some trolling is funny and most people know it's just a level, other trolling is somewhat derisive but somehow beneficial to the community, and some trolling is just straight up bad. Drawing these lines are what's difficult, and I think bright line rules are not effective.

As always, if anyone has any comments or suggestions on the forum, how I moderate it or what certain rules should or should not be, feel free to send me a PM. I am extremely open to community concerns, and I've always stated (you can ask some mods in the mod forum!) that it's really important a sub-forum community be what the regular users want it to be, not what some mod arbitrarily decides it to be. Of course, this comes with obvious exceptions for certain rules or practices and doesn't denote a democracy, but rather an open forum of ideas where I just seek to steer things. All I ask is that any suggestions or criticism be tactful and constructive.

Honestly, me asking a question in a forum that encompasses anything isn't that big of a deal. I'm not stupid. If I wanted to ask it in the Zerg forum, I could have. If I wanted to ask it in the Beginner's thread, I could have. If I felt like wasting my time I could go through the SC2 subforum and find more than a handful of questions that were asked in any arbitrary forum. How many times have there been less than BBV discussions in the BBV thread?

I just wanted a quick answer. It wasn't that hard for 2 other guys to answer it without a problem.

I could have went and tried to figure out the answer on my own against the AI, but like I said, I just wanted a quick answer, and I knew that quick answer would come from someone who could answer it in less than a second. How many other people have asked questions just because they don't want to go and figure it out?

It has really gone on long enough. I'm not going to walk on egg shells because I have to make sure I ask a simple question in the acceptable forum.

The situation is over, the problem has been solved. That's the end of it. I'll take the heat, but I'm going to stand up for myself and for everyone else who feels the same way but who don't get involved.

/done and over it

And it is my worst nightmare that anyone feels that way on this forum. Trust me when I say that similar treatment of posters asking questions like that in the future will be met with a very low tolerance. If anyone still feels uncomfortable posting or asking questions, please PM me your concerns right away.

so everytime i get a waffle from the dining hall they give it with a packet of syrup and butter. does anyone actually use the butter? seems too much and gross imo

How do you not put butter on your waffle? Just putting syrup on there is totally missing out on the awesomeness of the butter.

Part of a good waffle is having melted butter on it. And I hope you're getting a belgian waffle because waffles are good and getting just one is -EV.

You're eating a waffle and putting syrup on it, why skimp on the buttery goodness!?

Gross indeed. Not as gross as butter-flavored syrup though.
