I have to buy a Macbook Pro. I hate the OS and I hate the trackpad button (the trackpad!!!). It's a going to be a disaster. **** Word and PowerPoint. Go Linux, LaTex and Beamer.

Regardless, Latex is awesome, everyone knows that.

Because in my research group, they have everything ported for Macs to set up and they collaborate presentations by using PPT. Also, a lot of things need to be written in Word to submit.

I stopped using Word once I figured out how good Latex is. I'm sorry to hear that.

The only good Office product is Excel.

I just tried to open SC2 and Avast freaks out saying win32:malware-gen found in one of the bnet cache files. Apparently this is happening to a lot of people -- not just SC2.

i was just coming here to ask what i could've done differently vs a terran who did this, though not as well (45 min game). he reaper cheesed me which i held off handily, then after not too long i was wiping out his main base. it took me probably another 5 minutes of killing and then searching to realize that he very early on had made a command center and floated it to an island. he made a bunch of marines + missle turrets + ravens. he at no point remotely had a chance of winning, but it took me like 20 minutes to break him. maybe i was just frustrated that i didn't really know what to make and i what i did make took so long for what a dominant position i was in.

Unfortunately there isn't really a quick solution to this. Take the map and contain him. Don't try to break it until you have map control as if you suicide your army and need to rebuild he has a chance to break out.

Can anyone else not log in because of "authentication module"? Not sure if these 2 are related or not.

Edit: Turns out it's an Avast problem so nvm.

okay, that's basically what i did. i made sure i had map control first then i started making banshees, but then i realized they kinda sucked overall for the job esp vs the ravens and i switched to bc's which got him easily. i guess i could've also massed ravens, or done vikings + banshees instead of banshees alone.

i feel like in general i'm so fumbling and slow. hopefully that goes away quickly with practice. has me thinking about ditching random though.

Just saw the extended trailer for "true grit" and came in my pants in the theatre.

I want to see The Social Network, but I don't want to go alone.

I went with 3 friends. It was good. I went in expecting a lame movie about facebook but really it's about everything else. Throught it ended up dragging on towards the end though. And wow whoever wrote this movie really hates women.

Honestly Facebook should be the last thing you are thinking about when you go to see that film.

Fincher has as a pretty solid reputation as a director. He's been nominated for an Academy Award and he also directed Fight Club.

Even more important though, Aaron Sorkin wrote the screenplay. His talents aren't really in question.

I want to see it for those two reasons alone.

I am a bit surprised with the near universal critical acclaim it's getting though. Everyone is crowning it as one of the best ever, but I'm skeptical. It has a 97 rating on metacritic and those familiar with the site know that is legendary status.

I feel people are pretty heavily biased by their own nearsightedness(see Inception/Dark Knight) but then again I haven't seen it yet.

Wow that's pretty outrageous. It's a good movie, but in no way great.

I've heard the directing is rather good. Some really good shots. And that the screenplay/dialog is exceptional.

The dialogue and humor were exceptional. I just found the story to not be that great. There's certainly nothing wrong with the film, it's just not a great movie. And when the film ended, I was more than ready to leave the theatre.
