All I know is that I've watched some of his newbie tuesday and funday monday videos and found them to be really informative and/or very funny. I asked one of my best friends how to learn sc2 and he responded in one (2?) word(s): day9. I've learned a lot.
Honestly, If I had to get someone who it tottaly new to SC at all I would point them in the way of Day9.
He's well spoken, educated, doesn't curse to much and willing to help total noobs and he knows what he's talking about.
Obv he can be massively obnoxious at times, and I'd rather hear Idra or someone else speak on higher level thought processes in SC2, but for noobs who better?
day9's fans are two groups
-the complete noobs to SC that essentially have no idea how the game is played above gold and have no desire to learn about the game above "ZOMG BANELINGS" level
-the nerd fanboys that view him as a hero and what they aspire to be
so for the people that will literally get an hour of starcraft experience and then go on with their lives- sure, day9 is fine. but if you're trying to introduce someone to the game with the intent of having them become fans, i'd much prefer artosis or apollo after a week of prep
Yeah this forum hates day9 but he is really the only person that explains very basic fundamentals. Like his whole daily on just using hot keys and eye movements being independent of hand motions. He's not in tune with strategy and execution, but he is really good at getting noobs to learn the game the right way.
