My friend just got an iPhone and after holding it for a few minutes I was impressed with it. My dad also has one, but I've never really seen it.
I don't know much about iphones or androids so I'm only going off of my limited experience.
How do I find out if my town has 4G?
A quick look seems like the Android and iPhone are similar in price -- Droid 4 and iPhone 4S.
EDIT: Another look at the Droid 4 and I don't like the sliding keyboard. If I'm going to have a touchscreen, I'd rather not have other moving parts.
EDIT2: I guess the Droid Razr would be something better, but again I don't know much about these smartphones and what makes one better over the other.
EDIT3: Not even sure if I'm looking at the right thing, but it looks like I'm only covered by 3G right now unless it is outdated.
lol, this is awesome. I just got a new phone and went through the exact same thing. Except I'm with At&t.
Yes, if you have wifi, like at a Starbucks or McDonalds, or a wireless router at your house or a hotel w/e as long as you know the password or its unprotected you can insta have the net and it won't count against your data plan, at least with At&t.
Either google, or call your service provider about 4G networks and what kind are coming to your town. If that for some reason fails call Best Buy and talk to their telephone people. they'll know.
Verizon has a large HSPA+ network. If you see their commercials they say they have the largest 4G network in the US, which is true, but they don't tell you its HSPA+. And while HSPA+ is far faster than a 3G network it doesn't have **** on LTE, which At&t has a larger network for LTE so they too will have commercials saying they're the largest.
That said, it really comes down to what you want out of a phone. If you are looking for a high end android phone the Droid Razr, or Droid Razr Maxx are really great phones with big screens and far better processing power than any iPhone. Another thing to consider is OS, if you like Apple's iOS then that could sway you to get an iPhone, same thing if you have a huge iTunes library. If you are not into Apples crap OS (imo) then get a more user friendly android OS phone. Andriod 2.3 Gingerbread is good, Andriod 4.0 ICS is ****ing great. And I think Razrs are set up to get ICS sometime soon.
