I don't think this as far off as I thought at first.
While he is a relatively poor caster, what actually annoys me (and I'd suspect others would have the same opinions) about him is that he
still has a large fanbase for his talent level. In a way, we dislike him for the same reasons that his fanboys love him- he's more successful (in a Starcraft sense) than we are. Of course, they view it as him being amazing, and we view it as him being overrated, but I think it stems from the same jealousy.
If he were to lose all of his fans and be relegated to casting minor tournaments, I think a lot of the vocal hate for him would dissipate- and I don't think it would wholly be due to the fact that we didn't see him as often.
