I was given a copy of The Hunger Games. Is it worth reading? I have no ****ing clue what this is about and I know there is a movie out now. Facebook seems to tell me it is an entire chick thing like Twilight.

i enjoyed the hunger games books. i guess i've only read the first 2 years ago, but i think i enjoyed them when i did. take them for what they are though- they are young adult genre and there aren't too many complex situations.

if you're looking for a fast, easy read, i think that you should check it out. i personally enjoy those dystopia/sci fi type books alot, so the hunger games series was easy to like.

also, derek, yes...those books are fantastic.

If it's being compared to Twilight, it'll probably make you dumber reading it, so I'd stay away. Also, I cringe every time I see the commercial for the movie.

Also, AGoT is an acronym of GOAT. Coincidence? I think not.

i haven't read twilight but i don't really see any similarities. i suppose there could be some crossover in audience, but that's just the YA genre in general (harry potter could fall into the same). there isn't a ton of romance in these books.

so basically, hunger games is set in the future (dystopian society). there was a big rebellion decades ago from warring factions, with the victor being the capitol state. in order to punish the rebellion/remember it, the capitol issues an annual 'hunger games', where they take 2 kids from each of the 12 districts to fight in a big arena to the death. the book follows a chick (katniss) who is adept at hunting with a bow and fighting for her sister, who was chosen in the drawing (but katniss volunteered to take her place).

It would be a cool movie if it actually held true to its title, and starved the kids to see who could survive the longest.

not nearly as bloody as battle royale...only a PG-13 movie (hunger games). i personally enjoyed BR more, but still liked hunger games (perhaps due to being partial to the books).

Yeah show is really really good, but the books are better. Just more depth. The first 3 books might be my favorite book series. IMO it drops off after book 3, but it's still good quality.

I saw Hunger Games, really enjoyed it. Anyone who saw Winter's Bone knows that Jennifer Lawrence is a great young actress, plus Stanley Tucci is damn amazing character actor. Could have it been more, sure, but it's still good entertainment and comparing to Twilight is LOL worthy.

I kind of agree, but I think it's mostly a function of the fact that GRRM may have chosen the worst possible way to split the characters between books 4 and 5. Pretty much all of the most interesting characters were pushed until book 5, and that made book 4 pretty lackluster for me.

And yeah, book 3 is the nuts.

Ugh, I have to be convinced to read the chapters in book 2 about the new characters. Currently, I just stopped on Greyjoy's chapter. I have no desire to read it.

Today my father foudn out about SC and decided he really want to play a match to see the game.

3 hours later we are at 12 losses and 1 win ( because the other guy quit after a few mins ). Gotta buy him his own account or I'll have a 1 - 99 record pretty soon.

Confirmed.
All my RL only bought SC2 to play the campaign, they tried online with me and got raped. They don't wanna learn the game and get better. Of course, I play like 2-3 games a week =/

NONE OF MY RL FRIENDS WILL PLAY GAMES WITH ME UNLESS I GET MWX OR BFX OR SOME OTHER FPS
