I got into Diamond then took the family on vacation for 10 days. I came back rank 99 in my division 400ish points behind the top 20. So much grinding to do. =/

On the plus side, you probably have a nice bonus pool.

+1, though I don't think I'm decent.

Why can't you have three set strategies?

Just making sure...when someone says something like they're ranked Diamond +400 are they talking about their points?

Spoiler:
Just seems like a weird practice because more games more or less = more points

not really. If you ignore the bonus pool (which benefits everyone equally) the "points" is more or less an ELO rating; meaning if you simply play more games and are only winning 50% against players at or around your hidden ranking, your score won't go up or down at all in the long run because you will be losing just as many as you are gaining.

At least, that's how people think it works. No one really knows for sure because blizz is so top secret about the whole ladder system.

Yep, this. If you keep playing, you'll fluctuate up and down a few points, but you'll always be at around a 50 point range unless you improve. Like, I can't crack 700 points but I always stay around 630-680.

Watch his camera view in the replay - if he looks at your base through fog of war and then builds counters...

oic.

For me I've been gaining a lot of points for winning and not losing a lot when losing

(but then again, I don't remember the last time I played a game when I was favored so maybe that's why?)

If you just recently moved up to a new league you will have a lot of bonus pool points you still have to unlock, so you will be gaining a lot more points in your wins than you are losing in your losses. But once you burn through the bonus pool and are finally settled in to your proper position in the ladder, your wins and losses should be worth around the same.

why do you care so much? if your league says platinum instead of gold, what difference does it make? are you so insecure that you need to have a specific rating to feel better?

you're getting matched against diamond players. you'll continue to get matched against ppl of like-skill. the system will move you as it sees fit.
