JFC man, that is insanely impressive. Im only plat 3 and have over 1K hours. No idea how you can hang in plat (or even gold) with 40 hours of experience.

Idk maybe i got lucky. I did a lot of research beforehand. After my placements i got gold div II and like basically haven't lost since then. Gold games were SUPER easy I did not feel at all like I did not belong there.

Plat is a different story for sure. I am holding steady but barely.

The skill varies hugely game to game. I have games where my team can barely touch the ball and then others where everyone’s doing crazy off the wall aerial shots like thamel’s goal lol.

We should play sometime, but I’m like super not that good. Like I said I try to play pretty defensively and help my team control the ball whenever I can, i’m not a super amazing striker

Actually lol I was using my steam total game time played. My career in game stats say I only have 12 hours played. Which one do you guys use to measure?

Defensive play style has probably helped as well. As you move up in ranks though you'll find that you have to get into the offensive rotation.

If you haven't yet looked it up, look up a Rocket League Rotation video on YouTube, its the easiest way to instantly feel more comfortable

oh yea i dont just sit in the back and farm boost packs, i go in and out if the situation warrants it. I just really suck at taking shots so I usually try to pass it or set one up.

The defensive playstyle mostly happened because in lower ranks teammates would ball hog and crash into you whenever you tried to make a play when it was obviously your ball. that doesnt really happen in plat anymore but the play is more stressful because i feel like when it's "my turn" to take a shot or a hit on the ball i feel a lot of pressure to do it and feel terrible if i whiff or miss an easy one.

So I've just been chilling in unranked games trying to improve my fundamentals. but the style of play is much different, I'm in a trashy tier in unranked and there are leavers just about every single game.

This just reminds me of how often, even in diamond, your solo queue teammates are like "hey guys remember to rotate" (if they're nicer, "stop ball chasing ****ing moron" if they aren't) as if you're not already rotating and you're some dumb**** who luckboxed diamond having no clue how to strategically play the game

solo standard is ****ing AIDS. The toxicity is way higher than any other of the ranked modes, and its always oblivious morons who will put the ball in center for the other team and then spam "what a save" 50 times when they hit the shot. Or want to forfeit when you are down 2-0 and they just stop playing and and spend the rest of the match bitching about their ****ty team in chat.

It really doesnt make sense, because I'll play standard and even if there arent any people teamed up, the players are better, more capable and less assholish.

I had some hope a few months ago, I was getting 3-4 popups every time I logged in saying someone I'd reported had been banned. I haven't gotten any in over a month. It seems like it'd be pretty simple to just automate temp banning anyone who crosses a certain threshold of reports a week or something, then manually review subsequent bans for a month/year/perm.

I'm finding way more toxicity in 2s nowadays at high diamond and low challenger. You're almost always playing against pre-made teams and if you don't gel with your teammate, at least 75% of them turn in to toxic *******s.

I stopped solo queuing once I reached D3. My game is now solo standard without teammates and standard/doubles with them. Pretty much never had a good team in standard but now it happens more often as I met some people and they introduced me to their friends etc. Standard with a good team feels really awesome.

Got close to gold in solo standard. But I was definitely playing a lot better last week. Not sure what changed.
