make sure all 4 fingers are moving down a spot to hit orange

and just keep playing songs, it'll get easier pretty quickly

yeah its best to move your whole hand over unless its an alternating sequence you cant really do it for. just practice the easier songs over and over and youll get the hang of it.

So I went back over to my friend's place and we discovered that the RB2 guitar does not work with GHWT. Again this is for the Wii. I guess it has something to do with the fact that the RB guitars don't use the Wii remote but work on their own through the USB port.

Pretty annoying although I didn't think either would work so my guitar working on his game is just a bonus. If I had I just would have bought the GHWT guitar. If the GHWT drums work with RB2 then I'll just buy those. I should find out soon enough since he plans on buying them soon and I'm going to wait since I only play multiplayer at his place.

I'm 28 years old and just got my first gaming console since the super nintendo! I have rb2 for xbox 360 and have a few probably basic questions.

So I started a band (just me on drums) and I am "on tour". How many stars do I need before getting "signed"? Is this the point where all the songs on the game can be played? All I want is for the 84 songs to be unlocked without having to put a code in every time.

I heard there is an easier way to unlock the songs through a "decade challenge". I have finished maybe 2 or 3 of the drum challenges but I don't see the decade challenge anywhere. How many challenges must I complete before unlocking the challenge that will unlock all the songs?

sounds like you have to unlock the decade challenges first. keep playing. you can probably do it in 2 days.

I guess i was wasting time "on tour". It only took me about 4 hours to unlock and beat all the decade challenges. I now have all the songs unlocked! Thanks.

BTW I play drums irl and I have the hardest time with the odd time signature songs, like the supposedly easy Bob Dylan song, AFI, E-Pro, etc. AFI's song is probably the easiest song I cannot beat in hard mode. I do better on the higher difficulty drum songs where I guess the game considers the songs harder because the beats are faster. For instance, I have gotten as high as 93% on expert mode on Give It All. Does anyone care to comment on which songs they find (or used to find) more challenging? I bet non-drummers struggle in different ways than drummers.

On drums I would say I can do about 80% on expert and about 75% of them I 5 star.

A few I can't get through are Don't fear the reaper, everlong, damnit, mr brightside. A few were downloads.

I struggle with the very very fast songs.

my roommate also bought an upgraded pedal so that could be a reason for some of my successes.

i'm pretty much in the same situation, though i did luckbox one pass each of reaper and everlong. two things that always give me trouble are when there are 3 quick kicks in a row (like in reaper, or we got the beat) and rolls with kicks interweaved (reaper, obv.)

i can do 2 fast kicks and 4+ fast kicks, but 3 just causes my foot to spazz out and i have no idea why. i've spent about 2 hours in practice trying to control it but i just can't.

i still can't pass the reaper and outside from rb1.
panic attack, painkiller, visions, and testament are also insane.

bob dylan is hard to fc because of the hi hat rests. there is no pattern. i find it easier if i position the yellow cymbal directly over the snare so i can use both hands alternating. it's still hard though.

e-pro is harder if you concentrate too hard. there's a good battle up that has beastie boys and beck side by side. it is the same beat on snare and bass.

my red drum pad for RB2 looks like there's a tumor growing underneath it. anyone ever have problems with their drum pads doing something like that?

Did Blockbuster purposefully yank Rock Band 1 rentals to avoid the song exporting loophole?

Does song exporting for RB1 work on the 360?

Ya it works.

On a completely unrelated note, I'm looking to get a 2nd guitar since RB2 is my first GH/RB game. Which wireless guitar should I go for? Any decent 3rd party alternatives?

The GHWT guitar is the best ever.

just finished endless setlist on hard drums (second time - i did expert guitar back in september) and got 5* on all 84. that caps off tour mode for me - all gigs played, all 3770 stars earned. 300 million fans.

I got this game, but still only have the guitar. I've enjoyed playing it, but have run into a bit of a problem.

When I play with my friend, I'm usually on bass. This is fine as I actually play bass in real life, or at least used to, so I enjoy it even if it is a bit boring. Also, playing any sort of chords can bite me with a real or plastic guitar - probably why I got into the bass in the first place.

Anyway, especially on bass but also on guitar I'm in a spot where medium is too easy. I have yet to get exactly 100% - it seems like about 2/3 of the way through every song I think to myself "I haven't missed a note yet" and BAM. Having said that I get 97%+ almost every time and when I'm playing like **** for whatever reason it's still like 92% and 4 or 5 stars. If I play on hard it kicks my ass. I can get through the easy songs fine, but the for the others I just hit a run of notes and completely tank either dying or if I'm playing with my buddy getting rescued a time or two.

Is there really anything I should be doing other than playing more on hard until I get that ok? It just feels like the gap between medium and hard is massive and I'm a couple steps passed medium but have a very long way to go.

If you are doing that well on medium, I'd switch to hard full-time. Playing more medium isn't really going to help you get much better on hard. Like you said, the gap is huge.

Yeah.

I played some songs songs on bass on hard. Float On went well and I got close to five stars and got something like 96%, two or three of them I did ok never was really in jeopardy but wasn't rocking the bass groove either and I got 3 stars and high 80s or low 90s. For one, I can't remember but the band or song was bikini something, I got close to dying a few times but somehow ended up getting like 94%. I was really surprised at the end. Finally, I died on Hungry Like a Wolf.

The good news is that I discovered Practice which I didn't realize was an option. I think Medium is about the same difficulty as Hard on like 60 or 70% speed. Since I'm not competing or anything for now I think I'll play on hard and if I die and really like the song I'll practice it otherwise just get through on medium or not play that song.

Oh yeah, anybody have any tips for long runs of the same note that are pretty fast?

It's pretty easy to play 16ths or whatever on a real bass because I alternate with my index and middle fingers and can keep up with and maintain any reasonable rhythm. On the plastic guitar it's more difficult and I have trouble whether I try to keep pressing it down or I alternate up-down. I'm not sure what the deal is but I seem to be having problems maintaining the rhythm when alternating directions on the strum and it's too fast to go the same way.

alt strumming is one of my primary complaints about this game. GH does a good job of giving you visual and audio clues about your rhythm during fast repeating sections but RB does a horrible job of it. Very, very annoying.
